From what you've told us it just sounds like he'd steal some more stuff to get money to fix any meaningful* damage to his car. *Hard to say what's meaningful to a meth head, but I feel like rendering the engine completely useless might be? Who knows. No win. No gain. Having a person like that in your life is like having cancer Shannon. Aye, individuals like the guy you described are some of the most toxic people you can find. Generally speaking, I try to approach addiction with a sense of sympathy (rarely is it warranted).. But if this guy went to prison--a substance free area--for a prolonged period of time and immediately started back up again upon release, calling him cancerous isn't exaggerating. Installing a camera seems like the best course of action.. Hope things improve soon.

I was disturbed that my neighbor found the gloves in the same place he stashed them when he robbed me 5 years ago. He hit me again. He has not been out of prison 3 months on a 3 year incarceration. The cabin is raw and does not even have a water heater. It is a comfortable place. Has a 20 foot concrete swimming pool with an artesian well feeding it. The only appliance I need is a small window unit A/C as it is hot there. I can bring it down with me. So not the end of the world. I could be in his shoes. Thankful that is not the case as I feel very fortunate. He is a young guy with a high probability of being a career criminal. Sad future. I can only aid and assist his way back to prison using cameras and evidence. His only value to me is being incarcerated or terminated. He made that bed.

So two of the neighbors have been over to Junior's Grandfathers house to beg for the name of the pawn shop to buy their heirlooms back. Both single ladies.

Sounds like he will be back in jail soon one way or the other. Don't know whether to feel bad for the grandfather or not. Seems like he would step up if he is an honorable person. The way the kid leaves his stuff at the scene of the heists he must not be very bright.

Performing $400 robberies on parole is beyond having big gonads, just plain stupid.

By the way- if you file police report on stolen goods it goes into the system. The system is linked with some pawn shops. When something is pawned and has been reported stolen (i.e. Jewelry, a/c units, guns, etc) a red flag is drawn and police station is notified. I worked a pawn shop many years ago and had detectives in all the time.
To pawn something you must declare that it's your property and that you've owned it for more than 60/90days. That's a crime there as well. With it being stolen property people could get their stuff back from pawn shop WITHOUT having to pay the shop anything!

Try get the scrap metal and get their friends to take it to the scrap companies. Pawn shps, they know all the rules. This kid did 3 years scrapping metal.

Smart kid. Came over with a screw driver and pryed hasp off and stole A/C 1. Came back with bolt cutters and got #2. Did a clean job. Used a battery powered screw gun. Avoided vandalism charges. Avoided felony $300 charges by stealing $150 A/C each time. He knew he may get filmed. He comes back here enough to know exactly what to do on foot. No vehicle is going to hit this location. Am screwed. Had other stuff stashed in place for next haul. He will pick me apart.

Q: How can I prevent recontaminating myself? A: Urushiol is pervasive. Although it can only bind to humans, it can get on your pets, tools, gloves, clothing, shoes, and bedding -- and contaminate you upon contact. Any soap and water will wash urushiol away from non-human surfaces. Clean any outdoor tools that may have contacted the plants. Wash the clothes and gloves that you wore when exposed. If you sat down or went to bed without washing yourself or your clothes beforehand, clean all bedding and upholstery that you may have had contact with prior to washing. Wash your pets. Remember that urushiol can remain toxic for one year or more.

Remember that urushiol can remain toxic for one year or more. Poison ivy a way of life down here Dale. This fellow is not going to be bothered much by such. He snatched 15 6 inch angle irons out of here 5 years ago thru some nasty briars. 3 years in Florida prison. Only two ways to stop him. Reincarceration or a bullet. Not going to prison myself. If he did not live 400 miles away I may entertain other routes, namely helping him to get reincarcerated. He has not been here since I arrived. Neighbor between me and him told me. He is hid up at some of his buddies place the first day I arrived. Or his Grandfather hid him. His Grandfather is not one to contend with either. Bass fisherman were fishing below his 15 foot sea wall. Red told them it was private. One of the fisherman pulled a pistol and laid it on the boat seat. Red walked a few paces and picked up a concrete block and tossed it over the sea wall and into their boat not knowing what or whom it hit. Junior's Daddy is dead from drug deal gone bad about 15 years ago. Caught him and junior on my property and had a bad scene just before Daddy got shot. So there is some thick air around here. These are some dangerous folks. Self preservation a consideration. One language. Best wait for junior to get locked up. No matter to me. I am tickled selling the property. It is an old saga that raised it's ugly head.

I'm sorry that it seems to have come to this (selling), but you are absolutely right James. Trying to play against such folks is a no win situation. You have a good life and it's not worth f'ing up over a few hundred in a/c units or the potential for this to escalate.
Out waiting them is really your only option should you want to hang onto the property, unless going dumbass is an option. Don't think it is. Up to you whether trying to out wait junior going back to prison is worth the headaches. But, unless he REALLY screws up, he'll be back home in a few years anyway.
Good news is that listing "sh*tty neighbors" isn't a requirement on a real estate sales disclosure form!

Takes a primary explosion to set off the C4. Gas + air under compression + spark = primary explosion. Walnut size piece of C4 stuffed down a sparkplug hole = secondary larger explosion. Works best on motor cycles. Rider wears half the engine in his crotch. Don, the more you talk...the more I like ya.

wow. I hate a thief. I *really* hate a thief. Sadly, it seems in many instances they have more rights than law-abiding citizens do. Did I tell you that I really, really hate a thief. I've had too many experiences of being stolen from... James, remember my friend that got murdered a few weeks ago? He was in his own shop, in his own little community, and as far as we all know he had no problems with anybody. I believe whoever killed him lives within blocks of him. Lots of low-lifes have moved into the area over the last couple of decades. I lived there for 13 years, nice little neighborhood...now it's got a high population of "interesting" people..thieves, crackheads, etc.,.<sigh> Last I heard the sheriff had 5-6 possible suspects...also that he was robbed so the murderer could buy illegal drugs. Two things to remember...trust your guts and never go to crime scene #2. I think Earl may have moved to crime scene #2, the floor, before he was shot. Somebody about the speed of your neighborhood thief killed Earl. Don't drop your guard. Stay locked and loaded while there. Meth heads don't play by the same rules we do. Don't hesitate...I want to see you cracking rocks beside the creek again. Best wishes, Ed

captbob Last place I lived was south side of urban Atlanta. Not a good hood. No neighbors now for 32 years. Am spoiled and not used to being bothered. Delt with folks like this before, as anyone has. No win going against them. They don't forget. So true, real estate agreements do not cover issues with neighbors. Selling is fine. Don't need to be stressed about a vacation property. That is not it's purpose. I listed it 2 years ago. It has been on the market but way overpriced. Can put it with the local Salt Springs agent. She knows all party's involved. She too has many properties that have been Damaged in same way.

The forest as they call it around here has a high percentage felon population. Easy place to hide. Thousands of old trailers and campers. Marion County is big on mobile home manufacturing. There is almost zero minority population here.
