Thought of that Scott, but I doubt a used motor is worth all that much. Maybe a trade-in in at my local motor shop. I'm wondering why there is a 5 HP motor on a rock saw in the first place. Seems like huge overkill. Does it also drive the hydraulics?

My Frantom 24 has a 1HP motor and never breaks a sweat, perhaps the 5HP is there to satisfy the production slabber who will kick the hydraulics into overdrive to make lots of slabs in a hurry.

I'd be thinking someone got the 5hp on the cheap when original motor went away, total overkill.

The Diamond pacific web site says the saw comes with a 1 1/2 HP motor 230 volt The Kingsley North site says 1 1/2 HP but - 110 volt hmmmm... 110 sure would make things easier. Looks like I'll be swapping out the motor.

It is not a dual voltage motor. If there is such a thing as a motor shop still around they could rewind but better to have a 230v circuit put in. You can ask Diamond Pacific why they use 5 hp. My HP24 had a 1.5hp I think.

DP catalog says 1.5hp 230 v. Maybe somebody put a harbor freight 5 hp like on my air compressor. What are the specs on your 5 hp?

Hey John,
Dayton Industrial Motor Model # 6K633D
5 HP
The plate on it says:
Volts 230 Amps 19.6
is there other information you are asking for?
On Grainger's web site, it's over a $700 motor.
ETA: Also, that saw blade isn't good for anything other than concrete is it?
It is an MK Diamond Products blade - MK505

Maybe it was acquired at work by previous owner. I thought I had a good 1.5hp motor here but nothing bigger than 1 hp, I was going to offer a trade and may need a 3450rpm 5 hp for my air compressor soon. You would not want 3450 on the saw anyway. Maybe put craig's list add want to trade for 1.5 hp 1725 115/230 ODP motor.

Here are the images that the seller emailed me when I had inquired as to what phase motor the saw has. I didn't even notice at the time that this motor is a 3520 rpm motor. Those guys must have really been plowing through their concrete samples! Larry C.

Going to need to check the pulley arrangement when you get your correct motor, they might have changed that to compensate for the faster motor.

Been gone 2 weeks and you got your self a saw mill. THAT is a saw. 900 pounds !!! Glad the garage held out. That operation would have made me sweat bullets. Wife can hang you on those eye bolts, best remove them ASAP. If she decides to, call me so I can watch, you have popcorn ?
"The DOT needed a saw to cut concrete cylinders (plugs). So someone just ordered the most expensive saw they could find. .gov spent 10 grand on a saw that they could have used something well less than half that price to do the job."
5 HP to gnaw through concrete at a fast rate.
Check out item 10-2706 at Surplus Center. 1 hp 115/230 1800 RPM Totally enclosed fan cooled Leeson brand $184 Probably have to drill some holes or figure a way to mount smaller motor. It has a 56C frame.
As mentioned, may have to tinker with pulleys too. Concrete blades usually geared faster. -OR-, they just let the 3520 RPM motor do the speed increase(hopefully). And left the pulleys alone....
May consider 1.5 HP item 10-2707 for $231. For more power, your call.
Those TEFC Leeson motors are fine. And Surplus Center has been selling them for years.
If you need, or are forced, to move the saw my camp is available. Which one of you is going to have to park outside ?

I may have a 1 HP laying around. It may be a 3600 RPM, you need 1725/1800. Will look.

Motors are all pump motors and 3600 RPM. Probably have short threaded shafts. Useless for a saw.

Had to Google that picture above. Had no idea who she is.
Gonna get a new motor and order several small new parts. Gotta pretty her up! - it's what I do.
Probably on hold for a couple days while this storm makes it's way by. Supposed to get 10+ inches of rain.
Off to check the perimeter ...

"Figures from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services show that as of the end of May, the Tampa Bay area has registered 20.02 inches of rain, or 49.63 percent of the area's yearly normal rainfall."
Seems like you got 10 more inches in August. Now another 10" ?
Serious stall right over your zone. Rain hat time.
