These will make a lap of the future. For the home builder. These are 8 inches, getting bigger. Certain they will start making even bigger ones.

Dayum, I have been thinking about moving up to 6" from 5" but those will fit my machine if they make the standard 5/8" female thread backer pad. My biggest problem with the five inch is polishing slabs so a set of those just for slabs would be way better. Thanks for the heads up. Jim

I have a ancient 8 inch flat lap! I have not purchased them Bill. I only located them in this link. Yes Jim, 8 inches is enough for slab work. Nothing cuts like those impregnated pads. Those would work great on my diy angle lap. I bought a 3" inch set to make a experimental cab grinder. Do those 8" pads have velco back like the smaller ones ?

Yep, no prices. Looking at the website is a little like looking at a harbor freight catalog. I wonder if you give them the site maybe they can order it for you.

I don't know about ordering and velcro. Just glad to see that they are making them larger. Aliexpress is a bit friendly to order from. However there is some credit card scams ordering from China. Call Pedro at dtiblades.comHe may have a source. He is lapidary friendly diamond tool supplier.

Never thought of these for polishing slabs but sounds like it would work. Love experimenting.

This is a 6 station. 100-200-400-800-1500-3000. $40 Walmart grinders. Face plate home made. The face plates are the trick. Grinded off the velcro and glued them to the face plates. Grinder at 3600 RPM. Perfect for rubber pads. About 10 years old. Original pads, they last forever on hard rock, not so much on concrete. Grinders finally suffering from rust bearing disease, need a little push to get them going. Can polish 3 inch slab in a few minutes off of well adjusted power feed saw. Balancing water takes a bit off adjusting, once flows are balanced it is all rock and roll. Wish the pads were bigger. Wear bathing suit. Where to buy lathe turned face plates ?? I welded mine from giant washers and 5/8 nuts. Some did not run true and cause bouncing which is bad. Love that machine. Polished some big stuff on it.

Believe they make big pads like those in the OP for grinding/polishing terrazzo floors. Diamond floor buffing pads like a up to a couple feet in diameter. For your really BIG slabs!

I have seen a lot of different ways to polish slabs but this one is for me. Great pictures jamesp, made me realize this is doable. Do you think those grinders would handle the 8" pads and polishing say a 6" slab?

Do you think those grinders would handle the 8" pads and polishing say a 6" slab? Yes. No doubt. You will want to buy the solid backer too, so you have solid flat to work on. And be careful. When the larger grits cut, thousands of tiny diamonds grab the stone. You will absolutely notice the action. Could cause accidents.
