You found all that palm on this last trip? Knew you were getting into finding wood, didn't realize you found so much palm. Nice! Really almost re walked most of the area we stomped over looking ONLY for palm. Real strong effort. Found few. It is just more infrequent, the way it is. And 80% of that palm was found at the bottom of a wash that came from higher ground from a high fence ranch adjacent. It was like a 100 foot circle. I think that palm is local Bob. I think it is found on the higher ground which constitutes 1000's of acres. Land away from the Rio. I am thinking you would find palm all over the place, like to left and right on all those ranches driving down Hwy 83 for 12 miles for instance. Infrequent, but findable. Just got to cover some ground.

And Bob can cover some ground. That's funny. I had typed "Covering ground is my specialty." to post after your finding palm reply above before you posted this and I deleted it. When we were there, I put in maybe 20 miles a day fast screening as much ground as I could. Many of the finest rocks I found were just sitting there right on top for the taking. Quality rock producing spots often got a second, third, forth ... going over. Relatively easy to see if an area is gonna be worth spending time doing a more detailed search. Usually. Sometimes, I would find an outstanding rock and start searching the surrounding ground and not find another single rock worth having. Drove me crazy. How did that one exceptional rock get there? No rhyme or reason, that I could come up with, on where the "good rocks" would be. Now and then going along a certain elevation contour after finding a couple nice rocks would keep you on the good 'uns, but for the most part it was a catch–as–catch–can process. Which is why I opted with the keep moving hunting style. Jim would find a spot with potential and go to town on it. When I went through an area, there were probably rocks I missed worth having. I was "removing the over burden" for Jim! If he worked an area, there was very little point in going back to see if he missed anything. When I came across spots where there were windowed rocks scattered everywhere, it was a sure sign that Jim had beat me to it and I quickly moved on.

Next Thursday, someone will fly down there and buried it,so he can't find it anymore..... LOL They need to fly down and cut my throat for extreme aggravation. Curiosity of an un-sawn rock is excruciating. Hiding the sawn faces is just cold blooded. Addiction to rocks is real. Counselors not available for such syndrome. Maybe a new career path being such a counselor, treating Severe Rock Curiosity Disorder SRCD.

Once you take the pics, you should add them to older posts in other threads. Kind of like Easter eggs, hidden, waiting to be discovered.

In the old film days you could take a photo of the hard coy photos. I guess they could be printed out on a black and white printer and then photographed and posted. The Easter egg hunt method is the way. Avenues of aggravation. What goes around usually comes around, beware. Tantalize man tantalize.

I think James caught the "Swamp" Fever!!!!! James been making a living in the swamp for over 25 years. Certain his brain is eat out by several swamp critters. "Florida issues warning about rare, brain-eating amoeba" Naegleria fowleri is found in hot springs and warm freshwater, most often in the Southeastern United States. The amoeba enters the body through the nose and travels to the brain.

Yeah, we have those amoeba in Texas warm water too. Never had them in Commiefornia. Must have been a lack of a widespread good food source. Too many Democrats in that state. *W*...Mel
