I am not associated with this - it's an ad posted on Facebook this morning.

I think this is the same person who has posted pictures of very nice specimens on Flikr www.flickr.com/photos/41539816@N00/albums/with/72157616028628524He located about 40 miles northwest of me. I would go look at the collection, except he sounds determined to sell all at once and not piecemeal. Of course I could just go hit the change jar and see if it's enough!!

Shoot, he could charge admission just to visit and look through it all.

If most of the pictures are of his material, then it's top shelf. I would not mind looking at it just to see. The ad does seem to discourage browsing.

I can throw in $50...that leaves us just 2998 more folks to go in at $50 and it's done.
Since I am so close, I can offer to divide it up.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't have an extra $150k just laying around, but this could be feasible if it was crowdfunded.
$7.50 per pound, assuming 10 tons. Might be a hassle getting it all off the property.

Can't most full-sized trucks haul 2 to 3 tons?

Depends on the Truck and whether or not you pull a trailer. I personally loaded about 2600 lbs of rock into an F250, no trailer. Limit my F150 to not more than 1000. One of the diesel dualies can pull 2 or 3 tons, maybe more in a trailer.

$7.50 a pound for 10 ton of rock seems like a steep price to me. At that price it would have to be all very good material. Most any body that buys it will have a trucking cost involved and cost will depend on distance of course. Not many can afford to buy it and not try to sell it for a profit.
Curious of what catmandewe thinks of the price..............................................MrP

Strange, I saw another post by him earlier today on FB and he was ONLY asking $40K I think. Maybe he is gonna highball now, then later have a "clearance sale - half off".

Pocket change, all one dollar bills. For a bunch of rocks, wonder if dirt comes with them?

Curious of what catmandewe thinks of the price..............................................MrP Can't speak for Tony, but that kind of work and volume demands a deep discount. $500/ton seems reasonable. Whomever buys it must incur expenses loading, transpoting, cataloguing, facilities cost, advertising,..... I once bought a $150k snake collection. Offered about the same ratio of discount. By them time I got it sold, my cost was triple what I paid. $150k is simply silly. Unless it's all Burmese royal Jade. Them he can move it for cash. It's a pie in the sky ask probably for the purpose of drawing attention to the seller. Then... "Just for you I will let you take those agates for $50/#... Please don't tell anyone."

Cash talks, walk up there with 30-50K and I bet you will be hiring a semi trailer.
