Has anyone seen hearts where the cleft isn't cut into the stone, but rather it is set in such a way that a claw or V-shaped prong forms the cleft? Yeah, I've seen that in wire wrapped jewelry and in smithed jewelry. I wish I liked heart jewelry better. I've only done a few pieces. They did sell, but not quick enough to induce me to make more.

I said I was going to do it, and I DOOD it!
Yes, use the edge of your flap lap. But you must take off the water shield before doing so.
THIS IS MY ENTRY.
Here is the chunk o' rough lepidolite, self collected from the Lithium Queen Mine, AKA Thursday Mine. Went there twice on field trips with our rock club. Not a slab, had to grind it down to cab thickness. This stuff is pretty soft, so not a big deal. Besides, if you use a slab saw, the oil gets into it.
Rough shape
Shaped, polished, done. Laying on a larger chunk of it
It is definitely purple! Lots of inclusions in this little piece. I think it adds interest.
Ta-daa!
Yeah, I know, my photo skilz still suck. But thanks for looking.
Now I have a mess to clean up! Jean

Looking great. Even without the heart feature, the inclusions are perfectly placed.
