I was looking for information on tumbling and found the Rock Tumbling Hobby website thru Google. Clicked on the link from there to this forum.

The more that the Search Engine pulls ahead, the more it emphasizes the consequences of breaking existing links.

Went searching for info, found it, I'd say! Acquired an unknown slab, and my first post here was to ask for ID help. I know, I know, should have gone to the new member section first, introduced myself.
The members were a little leery of me at first, but then they opened up. Mel made the ID for me.
And here, after 5 1/2 years, I still am!!!

Like others said, I was searching for information to make a good purchase of a tumbler for my son. I've made searches for information since then and this site always pops up, it usually also has the best information.

17 votes so far and no one came from the Facebook pages. They are still pretty new I think, so maybe they will draw folks eventually.

It was a Google search for me. I was looking for info on lapidary, not necessarily tumbling. Lynn

A few years ago I was searching for tumbling supplies and tips and I came upon the ultimate rock addicts support group . So I registered and went from addiction to obsession .

i got my first Chicago Freight tumbler for a Christmas present back in 2002 or thereabouts. Did some research on the intertubes and luckily found this site. Have made some very good friends here.

Just my opinion but I've signed up on all four FB pages and I think a LOT more could be done to promote the board there. This doesn't have to be a one-way street - losing members to Facebook ... cross pollination so to speak. Cab contests could be promoted, etc. Just thinking out loud here but I've always wondered why four? "Rock Tumbling" seems to be thriving. "Jewelry" hasn't had a post since I posted on 2/1. "Wire wrapping" no posts since 2/4. "cabs and slabs" looks like it has been taken over by Indonesia and Afghanistan sellers.

Answering out loud, I'm thinking that 4 was all Mark cared to do. Testing the waters so to speak. There is potential for others if you choose to go in that direction. You realize you will have to log into Facebook daily to approve requests to join each group? Maybe you can delegate that job! (I don't do Facebook)
The sellers are rampant on that one group and need a serious culling. Good luck!
There, but for the Grace of God, go I
