I broke my leg and after surgery to reattach it I was ordered to bedrest for 5 weeks while it healed, had alot of time to browse the internet, was a lifelong member by about week 4! Dont remember how I stumbled onto it, most of that is still kind of foggy.

I have looked at a lot of forums over the years. RTH is the best one I have encountered. Good information and not a lot of prejudice about certain lap techniques, etc.

Well I was looking for some thoughts good and bad but most importantly honest blunt opinions on an older 14"Covington slab saw I found on sale for $375. Should I snap it up or let it chill on the back burner of wants? -- Also Lortone Beaver 8" arbor with a disc and one 8" expands wheel for a hundred bucks. That would be a "snap that up quick!" mode of action. Am I right? Oh and it's new. Any words of thought on these two items of equipment?

Another google searcher. Inherited a couple of tumblers full of half-finished obsidian and after they had sat around for a couple of years went looking for info on what to do with the stuff. Found it here. The obsidian turned out great, by the way. Posted pictures of it several years ago.

I am looking for a slab saw and thought this site might help me find one. I have a trim saw but it is too small for the rocks I have to cut.

What region of Utah are you from? I think we can come up with some good recommendations on members to talk to - to the north (Idaho) and to the south (Phoenix) a couple of real good guys come to mind.

I found the site after repeatedly encountering it on many of my searches and knew a lot about the people on here before I joined. Not much of a joiner but this is a great bunch of people.. Cliff

Man! Too long ago for me to remember for sure. Probably surfing the web for rock stuff. Wife don't care for talking rocks and I ain't fond of regular clubs, so when I found this place I stuck around cause it's full of folks that do like to talk rocks....Mel
