Finally running. Need a couple belts to get the top tier running. But for now, at least I can get a barrel or two rolling. Pics to follow. Tommy

White splash panels protect the bearings... jamesp Thanks for the heads up on that issue. Vertical spacer gaurantees parallel bars. This was a huge issue mentally for me. I am not good at perfect anything. But when the structure does it for me, then I'm good. Built along the same lines as an aquarium stand. Hide the mechanics inside the ends and protect hands. Cover ends and put a screen door over the front and it's kid proof.

Looks good, Scott. I like the placement of the bearings. What are you planning to have splashing? Tumblers shouldn't be splashing.

In the unlikely event a barrel breaks or pops the cap off the bearings are protected. Jim had an issue and some bearings destroyed. I had the panel and hole saw. So I included it! Thanks Rob!

Just a thought , some sort of slash guard cover for the barrel shafts , because who doesn't pop the top on the vibe to watch it shake and wiggle .

Even a sheet hanging down to keep any slurry off the shafts would work

I like what you have built there. I wish I had the room for such a critter, but I guess I am lucky to have ALL that I have.

Griz, I threw out a bunch of crap that had accumulated on those shelves over the decades. Took out a shelf and dropped the tumbler in.... Now i plan to make even more room by eating rocks in those barrels.

Awesome. I also like the vertical bearing idea. I have never had a barrel leak but like the covers for safety reasons. With those and some simple covers on the outside there would be no concerns of danger from the pulleys and belts with kids around. What kind of rocks did you choose for the maiden voyage?
