I decided that I needed some help to improve my weaving. So I found and paid for a tutorial on etsy. I think it was well worth the $8.00. What do you think? This is done in 20 gauge copper round with 28 gauge purple craft wire. It took me 5 hours. hopefully I will get faster with practice.

Pretty fancy, but doesn't overwhelm your stone. Nice job!

Thanks. The bail was the easiest part. I'm gonna do that bail more often.

Thanks shotgunner, I will try that. Also, what kind of lizard is that as your avatar? I have bearded dragons. It looks kinda like a beardie but the colors are awesome.

A vegetarian from the Mojave desert. I had and bred bearded dragons in the mid 1990's. If you find useful websites for cataracts treated by sunlight, please share them.

Beautiful pendants Amy! I'm afraid it's not really the tutorial that gets the credit though - it's your skill and artistic eye that allows you to create such pieces.

I followed the tutorial exactly on that one. So I will give credit to it. Now it is time to do what my son always did with his legos. Use those skills and change it up.

Just did the cataract surgery on my left eye. I was lucky because my insurance covered it. Surgery was a piece of cake and the results are wonderful. I can see the rocks again....and the chuckwallas. I had heard that exposure to UV was thought to be a cause of accelerated cataract growth. My surgeon thought mine was the result of repeated blunt force trauma to my eyes during my soccer career. Food for thought but results still wonderful. Craig

Food for thought but results still wonderful. Craig Well, the sun protects from most skin cancers. 99% of melanoma start in places the sun don't shine. But they tell us to use sunscreen and the statistics showed skin cancer rates went up. And believe it or not, rickets is back! Sunscreen and irrational fear of sunlight is keeping folks from making their own vitamin D. So, for me, I'll research the sunlight cure of cataracts or at least a preventative, and I get to see more sunsets as a result. Glad your surgery went well!! Woot!!

Everybody I know who has had cataract surgery has been extremely happy with it. Some of them ended up with 20/20 vision in that eye-- better than they had before. And insurance covers it.
We have a proven, inexpensive technology that works for just about everybody. I'm not a doctor. Ask an eye surgeon how a cataract should be treated, and go with that. Even without medical school, I can almost guarantee the treatment will involve a few seconds with a modern laser rather than randomly staring moodily into the setting sun. I mean, c'mon. Looking directly into the sun is a known high risk behavior. Again, don't ask Google or the internet. Ask somebody who actually graduated medical school, such as the person who will be doing your laser surgery.
