Y'all may or may not remember this thread I posted a couple months ago. It was a video log of my not-so-serious day of rockhounding at Burris Creek / Stony Creek area near Black Butte Reservoir.
This video from that thread is the rock I cut today. Sorry the sound is so trashed by the wind.
That area has rockhounds crawling over it every day but for the most part they are looking for something else and consider this leterlirite. I love the stuff. It's almost 3D - more than what shows up on camera. Jasper and agate and hematite all coming together to make something dark but beautiful. It's not easy to coax a great shine out of but it can be done with patience and more than several back-ups to lower grits to work out certain problem areas.
