Interesting that it might not be coprolite, since it came to us second hand, I won't argue either way. Looks right, and a 5lb.+ turd from a hundred foot critter would be no more than a lumpy fart. The people who have seen it will have egg on their faces if it isn't, no one yet [well, except one now] has disputed the description. Now, how to prove/disprove. amygdule, hoping you can come up with some pics.

Therein lies the problem at hand, no real evidence either way. Had we found it, there would at least be a better description in the "dirt record".

My contribution to this crappy thread, about 5lb. worth. A friend of my wife's said cut me a slab and keep the rest, not a bad deal. Wow! Nice pick up. Do you plan on cutting any more slabs off it?

I'm no poop expert but I do know they come in all sorts and sizes. I have some interesting pieces not posted.only identified by internet research and photo comparison, depending on diet of creature that laid it.I have a piece that i assume was laid by a vegetarian. Or maybe a creature that ate mostly plants and insects.has an interesting mixture of what appears to be sand plant matter and outer shell fragments of insects. I will post a photo as soon as I come across it.all my samples have been found in the local creek I hound.

I might cut a piece or two off it when my free time opens up some.

Here's mine. It was sold to me as Coprolite anyway. It's so big it has to go in my special "honkers" slab box! Maybe 10" wide. However it is not impossible that it is really something else - it looks a lot like pink Tiffany too, the brecciation and the yellow orange jaspery spot look very Tiffanyesque.

That sort of looks like a Chapenite Susan. Is it kinda waxy feeling?

Not particularly waxy feeling. Feels like any other slab.

I have seen other coprolites that have that chapenite look to them. Really like the colors and the "look". Nice!

Not sure if it is or not. It's sitting in my "to be cut" pile........ which means, I haven't decided how to approach the cut for the best results.
