Started this thread to see some cool 💩. Found all of these but 1 in my home town. Group Shot here. Close up of the Left Side, notice the tan and red jasper one. Close up of the Right, the one it the top right has small bone fragments.and very nice colors. This one is very hard and dense it is the one found in Gardner Co. Last is a small one that you can see Flowers In. This photo has the largest easiest to photograph.can you see it in the bottom middle of the piece? Has other flowers of the same pattern. Let's see some more 💩.

I have a 25# hunk of "croprolite" from newberry springs in my car. Needs get it out. If/when I do, I'll post a pic here. Then when it's cut, will do again.

I found these in Utah last summer. Never having found coprolites before, I would love a yeah or nay from the group.

How can you tell the difference between a coprolite and a gastrolith? Coprolite can many different sizes and shapes.....Gastrolith are always smooth, like river tumbles...(Most look like eggs...)

How can you tell the difference between a coprolite and a gastrolith? I can't. And to be transparent, my stones identification came from Diamond Pacific. It's a common form in the area I work. No proof it's actually fossil poo.

Nay Those are septarian nodules. Btw they each have a fossil inside! Huh...never would have thought that. Thanks for the info!! Now I won't feel so bad. I didn't know that coprolite was protected like dino bones and I had found those in Yellow Cat. Once I was home and realized that I shouldn't have taken them, I've felt very guilty all this time. Good to know I can have a clear conscious now. So if these are septarians, I would like to try cutting them. Both are discoid, with the flat side in view. Do I cut laterally along the 'edge' of straight up and down?

Do I cut laterally along the 'edge' of straight up and down? Depends on your use for the cuts. Display the interior? Cut like a bagel. Slabs to cab? Turn 90° and slice out ovals. At least that is best for Michigan lightening stone septarians.
