Right up the hill from me, love Cedar Breaks and the surrounding area. Cedar Breaks is gorgeous. My mom has a couple of (sadly abandoned) lots at Strawberry Valley, near Duck Creek Village. Is that near you?

Is that near you? Not too far, I've driven out to Strawberry Point and the surrounding area. It's beautiful up there!

Bryce Canyon - with cropping and a little touch-up. The original. My favorite lawnmowers are still here. What would we do without a little rain? - Dead horse point. 24 little hours full of sunshine and showers where there used to be rain - at Bryanhead. This last photo taken by Gina Bolsted.

Somewhere around here?" Guess I forgot to bookmark this thread, sorry about that. Yeah, exactly! My mom's lots are two or maybe it was three adjoining lots on (I believe) Cessna Street. Could be wrong though. She's looking to unload them if anybody's interested! Not expensive~! Beautiful in the summer.

Thanks for keeping this going, Utah is a treasure. We've done a bit of the Moab area, covers a lot of ground! We were there in the Fall and lucked out with the rock show running, met Lynn, Zarguy, there.
My avatar is from Coral Pink Sand Dunes. love to drive out there looking for Eagles! Also, some good Rock Art and Dino Tracks in the area.

Even though I spend about 25 days a year visiting Utah, haven't explored much of the southern part of the state.......But I have covered a lot of ground between Provo north to Ogden and Park City west to Aragonite........IMHO, the entire state is just plain beautiful all times of year. If my boy lived more central, we'd be in the south more often......even he only travels down there 3 times a year to camp, fish, hound and hunt....such a vast exotic mass of landscape.

San Rafael Swell

Geologic "consensus" is that the San Rafael Swell was formed during the Laramide Revolution 60-70 million years ago, but it fairly shouts that it was formed at the laying down of the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison 150 million years ago.

I'm deaf, I'm not hearing the shouting :-) What am I not hearing? The Morrison formation is under all the tertiary stuff that's been eroding the last 5 million years or so... Just curious, I'm an amateur when it comes geology.

For me, if that had been the case, the southeastern slope would have been the Mancos Shale, NOT the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison. For me, 150 million years ago a comet impact slid the Jurassic rocks from the Utah/Colorado Border at least 3 miles to the northwest, forming the San Rafael Swell, and buckling the land beyond, creating Castle valley, forcing up the Coal Cliffs, etc.

So, where's the crater?
