Hey Wolf! Right on with the site.. I did look it over and over and over.. but still not what I'm looking to find out.. his don't look like they really have a good shine.. but then again could be me.. Color blind in one eye and can't see crap outta the other.. lol jks.. And also His still has that "dim" look could it be the quality of the stone itself? Oh and that Minerungem place sounds like the same sorta link I posted on the other page Hmm.. could be.. never know it's a small world.. Lol.. Anyways I did enjoy the site.. so Much Kudo's to you for that.. So Thank ya verrrrry much with emeralds on top! ;)And yes.. now it's offical... you're my Hero.. lol But... I still wanna see how yours turn out... lol .. and I totally agree about time too short to stress over anything.. That's why I stick to just playing with my rocks.. I don't play well with others .. lol jks.. ;D Peace Roxy

Roxy, post something about emeralds on the General board & you'll get some direction. I'm pretty sure a couple people kept the links to photos.

Well the sad thing puppies.. is It wasn't me that wanted to ask the board a question.. Wolf did.. I just sorta figured I'd watch and learn from His Ummm................. ExperIence... ;D Yeah I had a question or two that I did come to find out myself.. But what I wanted was just to see some pics of how they turn out in a tumble.. if they take to the polish that comes with the kit. And I wanted to see how someone else does it first hand..cuz I already jacked up a couple of my own batches before.. So .. WOlf is the one who was in dire need of an answer.. But nobody answered his Question that I know of.. So I took it upon myself the coolness that is me... lol... to help another new rocker out.. Cuz that's just how I do things... ..LOL. But I just happen to be lucky cuz I live a mile away from two of the smartest rock guru's this side of of the Hemisphere.. ;D See?? Roxy

I took my poor sick tired self to the basement and rounded up the last bunches of emeralds I had and took photos out on the porch. They are in the photo section, check it out. I don't know that my photos did justice to the shine, though. Mine run emerald truly does take a beautiful polish. And wolf, post an inquiry on the general board with a header that makes it obvious what you are looking for and you will get a lot of help either in new posts or links to the old material. We really should have all the emerald/sapphire stuff archived separately somewhere since the topic comes up regularly, often brought up by newbies who have purchased or want to purchase rough from ebay and tumble it. I was one of those who got started that way.

I agree pup pictures just dont give the stones/gems the justice they deserve . My pictures didnt come out all that well either , It seams most folks get con'd into the mine run stuff. lol
I also noticed there isnt a heading for just tumbling like there is for the other aspectsof our hobby.
I played around with the search feature, it seamed to work ok for me . I did a 200 day with 100 finds and it came up with a bunch of threads.
Wolf pictures too follow

well some will go back in for another 5 days or so, and I'll probibly hold out till I get enought for stage 2 , sorry the pictures are sooooooo big lol not sure what happen with that.
I think the yellow ones are just quarts , the purple is amethyst , I'm not sure what he light green is , it was all in a grab bag I picked up from ebay . There are rubies in with the emeralds.
Thanks Wolf

That photo size really is a pain... Looks like you have some good looking stuff. Can't expect much more on first stage. It is fine to do the rubies and ems together, in spite of fears about hardnesses. They seem to help each other grind faster. You do best if you really keep working the ems to get the black matrix off. Often the worst of it conceals the best stones. If they polish but they are still black, grind them more. It takes a long time. No one on the board has yet succeeded in getting rubies to polish. I truly have tried everything.

BTW doc (docone) is an experienced faceter and knows tons of stuff about gemstones. He says he has often tumbled mine run rough (ruby and emerald) and expects to get several facetable stones out of each batch. We've seen some of them. You might want to try a search on docone going WAY back and you might find some of this.

Another thing, the first section (General) is now the closest we have to strictly rock tumbling info. For those docone posts, you could maybe save some time by searching just the General board, maybe photographs as well, since we didn't have the sub boards until later. If you've found earlier threads on emeralds you've probably seen photos of some of my earlier ones a couple years ago. Those were the ones that photographed the best. I had them pretty well sorted out, too, and there are some nice ones in the batch. I still have them carefully sorted with my own grading system and put away. Now you have me curious to go take a look at them for the first time in a long time.

The reason you aren't getting more action on this discussion is because of the location and the header. It needs to be in the general or photos section.

I bumped puppie's original pics to the top of the photo board. The thread is called "Emerald City - home of the puppiehouse". -Don
