OK, here we go. Garage Rocker was the inspiration for this game when he recently mentioned my offcuts in what might be my one and only thread started in the Rock Tumbling section. Yes I do generate a boatload of scraps and yes there is some good stuff in there, and now you can have them for Thanksgiving
Tommy's turkeys are a pile of mostly scraps of slab offcuts that didn't make the cut to become cabochons for whatever reason. The giveaway is TWO full containers as shown, one is stuffed full and one is almost full, one inch from the top. Both containers fit comfortably into a large flat rate box.
These turkeys are a completely mixed lot, not matched for compatibility in any way and not processed for tumbling. The only measurements I can offer other than the pictures is that EVERY piece in both containers did NOT fall through a 1/2" square grate as shown in one of the pictures. The turkeys that did fall through the grate became my tumbling fodder and are not included. As shown in one of the photos, on to the top of one container I added two premium slabbettes of Morgan Hill poppy jasper suitable for cabbing. These were not offcuts - they were from my cabbing stash.
This is a purely guessing game, no further clues will be given and the game will be monitored and stopped if the weight is guessed exactly. The game starts right now and ends when the exact combined weight of the dry rocks (minus all containers and packaging) is guessed. If the exact weight is not guessed the game ends at 8pm PST on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday 11/23 (Edited to add: and the prize will be awarded to the closest guess without going over.
EDIT 11/19 - Format is in LBS as read by my scale - pounds to two decimal places (xx.xx).
- sorry for the confusion on my part.
Everyone who plays can have FIVE guesses all at once or spread out for the first four days (now through Wednesday). If on Thanksgiving morning at 7am PST the exact weight has not been guessed, members are allowed 1 guess per hour until the exact number is guessed or time expires.
Good luck and have fun!
