What was your recipe for the glass, Type tumbler, size of batch, cushioning, polish andy other additives?
I have had problems with glass. Agates/jaspers, TN puddingtone all ok. Glass is hard because it is soft.

Beautiful. The rectangles would also make great pendant/earring combos.

Glass is hard because it is soft. Easiest way is to buy a Lot-O. It will run glass. I modified my Vibrasonic vibe to run glass by numbing it. Glass is best run in a gentle vibratory tumbler. It is not so much the abrasive rmf, it is the machine that allows you to polish glass. Now a rotary may do glass well if you use lots of small media for padding. Glass is soft, but it also bruises easy. The bruising issue w/glass is the main problem. For example serpentine is softer than glass but it is not highly brittle like glass is. Hard to bruise serpentine. But it does not take a polish easily either. But for a different reason.

I've had good luck with quartz in the rotaries, using a ton of small plastic beads for cushioning. I haven't had any issues with bruising...perhaps I'll try a batch of glass for the first time in the rotary and try the same thing. Cool looking pieces...

I remember that load you ran with the tennis ball quartz. I insisted on your rotary recipe. "Fill beads to level of rocks working them into the crevices by shaking" + "Use Rock Shed beads" - I remember !! That is exactly what I would do. But don't be surprised if you have to run them longer in 220 - 500 and 14,000. If you can get such a fine polish with that load you posted you should have success with glass. I would not put any glass in your barrel bigger than 1.25 inches though. No tennis balls ! Big will bruise glass ! So less crevices with smaller rocks. I suggest you use percentages, like 40% pellets, 60% rocks. The last load of glass and obsidian I ran was 2 days in AO 220 and 1 day in AO 14,000 in the vibe. super polish. This load I thought I did everything the same but it took 3 days in AO 220 and 2 days in AO 14,000 and was not as well polished. So I must say glass is a bit unpredictable.

jamesp Thanks for the feedback and info. No problem. Unfortunately glass is a difficult tumble. One of my favorites to finish successfully, but it is a hassle to tumble.

I'm thinking the marble seller eats too many dill pickle and mustard sandwiches just before bedtime; crazy dreams.

Thanks jamesp . Those small chips of glass do look spendy for around $30 a pound. That batch of marbles was listed at $850 for 132 marbles.

Glass is hard because it is soft. Type in google: dry burnish obsidian and you will get an exact recipe for glass for a vibratory tumbler (lot-o)
