Cut this little plume agate/grape cluster egg by hand today. Now if I can just figure out how to turn it into a cabochon... (shrug) The other half is okay but it has its problems.  |

I love the challenge of trying to make a cab out of lost causes -
When they do turn out good it's pretty satisfying. I think my best bet for a pendant would be to polish the face flat as it is without breaking the grapes, then carefully trying to take off some thickness from the back - keeping it also flat.
I do think the whole thing would break. Maybe I'll just make a flat face display out of it and be done...

Yeah, I like it but can't tell much about the geometry. Set it on your desk and eventually it will tell you what it wants to be.

well I started polishing the face and it told me it wanted to be a drilled pendant instead  being a sucker for creating heavy pendants that nobody in their right mind would wear I had to oblige  Front is flat and polished The back is domed to as thin as I dared to go without breaking grapes and is not polished (its all just t-egg cap brown anyway). Hole is drilled to 3mm to accomidate a 1.5mm cord I'll make for it.   |

Bitch-in! That came out great! I love that it looks like the grapes are spilling out the bottom - gives a sense of motion, and unexpectedness. That should sell in a snap!
