turning rock over - bad photos had to use flash couldn't wait until morning - ya'll are killin' me! If this doesn't do it I will add the state it is from, but this should be fairly easy. This is a large nice piece, but this type is often found with the bot. agate on it. Cathedral agate? Gorgeous whatever it is.

I have no idea what it is as my identification skills suck But, being you said state and you got all excited over the pictures, I'm going to say Graveyard???

captbob , did they have any greenstone or thomsonite? Lakers? I like your style, you should have no worry about the wife, you have plenty of rocks to hide behind.

None of that Billy. No Petoskey stone, Binghamite, Mary Ellen, banded iron ... I'm guessing they never hit that part of the country.

Got a milk crate packed full of their best teepee and dryhead pieces (that they would sell). Left quite a bit behind.
I'll post pictures soon. Gotta start somewhere.

Very little time for dealing with these rocks today, busy getting in trouble elsewhere. But I did take pictures of ONE rock. whoop-de-doo huh? Anyway, this one has me stumped. The seller was a bit foggy on the what and where as well. Can't really blame him, he has a LOT of rocks to remember. What he thinks he recalls is a location, and even that isn't 100%. But pretty sure. Wiggins Fork (that is a river) a bit north of Dubois Wyoming. Google says that is in the Shoshone National Forest. Anyway... any one have some thoughts on this? Green moss in translucent agate. Moss goes through the entire 15-20 pound rock. Some quartz with a lone calcite tooth at the other end? moss at the quartz vug end you can see the moss through out the rock - side shot it's a big 'un! Moss has a bit of a Horse Canyon look to it, but he was never there. Heck of a chunk of rock no matter. Hope to get more pics tomorrow. Sorry it's taking awhile to get to these, but I warned ya that it would!

There is a Wind River Moss Agate that I've seen on Livingstone Art and Gem that was collected not far from that location?

I've hunted Horse Canyon and the green moss from there tends to me more of the tube type, more complex than what you have there. To me yours looks more like Pacific Northwest material from Idaho. I'd say limb cast except the exterior does not look like wood. Might be a big ole nodule of Hog Canyon/ Hog Creek moss from near Weiser, Idaho. Sometimes they call those Idaho potatoes and a rock shop at Nampa, ID used to have some huge ones....Mel

I was thinking limb cast as well Mel, but that was just a guess. He has a limb cast from Texas Springs that is like over a foot long and about 4 inches across. Just a knock your socks off piece. Wants 500 bucks for it. Expensive, but I've never seen anything like it and may never find another one. May pick it up when I go back just to have it in my collection. It is the rare & no one else has one kinda pieces that interest me and elevate a collection. Anyone can have "common" rocks, but closed locations and "oh my God" pieces are what I consider worth the $$.
Wait until I get around to taking pictures of the pieces I picked up over there from Wamsutter, Wy. Truly OMG stuff!

Muted pink. Not as bright of a pink as smaller pieces.

Blizzard stone. Man that's why common names are confusing. One is definitely a gabbro and I read the other one from Wyoming might be a form of travertine. That one does look like lysite so I'm really not sure if the blizzard stone is the same stuff. Depends on if the latter is agate hard or not I guess......Mel
