A little late to this thread, but a great looking cab MsAli! I've tried dopping, but I prefer the control of holding the stone by hand. And yes, my hand have look similar.

It played fine. Wow, a cab person already ! Borrowed cab machine ? I did borrow a machine Cut the slab and preform all by myself. Had little direction on doing the cab and polish didn't come out as shiny as I would of liked. But still pretty pleased with myself. Hoping to get out there this Sunday and do another rough to cab on a juicy piece I found.

I have ground a million tumbles but never ever made a fine domed cab. Perhaps this one Alison ? I love them agates and all their colors. Betting you are in/near fine agate territory.

I thought I had commented before, but I guess I didn't. This is one rock stuffed thread! You go girl! You collected some nice stuff, too. I love that green dendritic opalite. Great cab, too. What we won't do for a beautiful rock! I learned to cab by hand, but I MUCH prefer to dop. Saves the nails and fingers. The top of my left pointer gets bumped on the course wheels so I tape it up with that green alligator tape. You might try some on your fingers and or thumb.

Someone told me I have to let the opal sit for a year before I try to do anything with it, so Ill be patiently waiting to try to do something with it
I love tumbling, but the cabbing is really fun and challenging (for me anyways) I cant wait to do some more
Now tapping my fingers is a great idea!!!

I crawled under a barb wire fence, walked up a very big hill, got poked in the knee by a nasty bush, and an ornery Ewe butted me in the knee (true story) to get this one.
The purple in it is better than the pictures show. There's some spots that are iridescent looking. Cannot wait to cut it open.

Hills fences thorns. Enough on the belly aching, that's rock collecting. The goat issue commands respect though. She must have perceived you as a threat, sure that is you in the avatar MsAli ?

There was a whole flock of them and I think she just ran into me because I scared her. Instead of running away from me, she ran towards me. Northern girls don't belly ache
I'm proud of that rock

There lived a goat next to me that was some kind of a freak steroid monster. He raised chain link fences with his thick neck and passed them. Aggressive. Ugly. Stunk like a urinal. Yep. I was scared to death of that animal. He finally learned to stay away after I fired a pistol in the ground when he was after me. Bet you are proud of that rock. Was there more and are you going back ? Best ones are the ones you have to work for. And when is the next trip ?

Goats can be mean. I will go back to that area. Rocks galore. Alot of the same and lots of them are fractured. It got to the point where I was being really picky with what I picked up Hoping to do clear creek this Saturday. I have to decide before Friday as permits need to be done before the weekend. It's been raining so it should be a good time to go

Picky is always good when collecting! It helps temper the effects of Rock Fever and prevents one from getting home and wondering "who put all this bleeping driveway rock in my Bucket!!" It's my collecting mantra "Hi-grade!!, Hi-grade!!, Hi-grade"
