Sands, If you put one or two on eBay with low starting bids, you could just sit back and see what they would bring. That might be a good starting place to see what kind of interest they might generate and give you an idea of what to price them at if you want to sell them in other places.
That's my 2 cents worth. What do the rest of you think?

I think that is what I love the most about your cabs and that is they are free form and not all the same shape and size. To me that is important, I prefer random over uniformity. Tami

Sands, I agree that you should market your freeform cabs. As you said earlier, the only cabs on eBay are the oval shaped cabs of various sizes. The rock shop and the bead place I go to also have just the plain ole oval shape. I think people would buy your freeform cabs because they are unusual and unique. The fact that they are different is what makes them so attractive.
I sure wouldn't price them any less than a regular cab. The rocks you use cost the same, and you put just as much labor into a freeform cab as one would put into a regular cab - heck, maybe more since they have all those templates or whatever for cutting cabs. They are all the same 'ole, same 'ole just in different sizes. Your freeforms are much more creative and take just as much work.
Another idea. Get a display case and go to a flea market If the flea market offers booths with electricity, take your grinder and work on cabs while you are there. Most people are fascinated about how things come to be - esp. if you can show them a piece of rough, a slab from the rough and show them the process from rough to a finished freeform. You would probably have them knee deep watching how the cabs are made and most people would buy one. Might be a real project for you to haul the stuff to the flea market and then back home, but I think it would be a great selling factor. The customer would get an idea of what kind of creativity and labor comes into play and I think would be absolutely fascinated to see how an ugly rock can become a thing of beauty.
Also, if there are arts, crafts, antique/junk shops that take things on consignment, take some there. Also a arts and crafts store nearby, they might be interested in buying some to offer to their customers for their A&C projects.

Hey Sands, Wish I could help you with how to list items on eBay, but if we ever get around to listing anything, I'm gonna have to depend on Llana to do it. She has the info on that.
LZ, you gonna give our buddy some pointers?

john it's really easy just go to ebay, sign in and click on sell - it'll guide you through getting set up. i sold my child's dancing costumes, shoes after the recital. that went so well i dug out some more stuff from her closet. just amazes me what some people will pay for used stuff.

Hey John. Why don't you try Andy's "items for sale" on his main site. Go to the General section of the message board and look down about half way, and he's got a post on how to list items.

Yep, they look real designer to me - NOT! The rocks aren't even really pretty, IMHO. $45.00? I don't think so! They aren't that special.
Sands' freeform cabs are much prettier and creative!

WOW! Can you believe that guy got $45 for a tumbled looking stone? I wonder how much you will be able to get for yours, Sands, since yours are truly 'designer freeform cabs'. When are you gonna get some listed? I'm excited to see how they're gonna do for you!

I think it's really pretty. Reminds me of white marble.

PS - hope to have my grinder set up by the end of the week. Got all the wood cut and some sanded today for the table I am building for it. Have to stain and finish the table and get it put together, then it will be time to set up the grinder!!! Can't wait! guess I should go ahead or order some belts for it so I can get to learnin' how to do cool stuff!
