WOW, Sandsman, From Philly to 'Podunkville, Texas' (Medina) in just 2 days! I'm amazed at this excellent delivery time by our postal service, but I'm even more amazed by your beautiful work and generosity! Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for the gorgeous pendant and for the chain. I was just expecting the cab with a hole drilled in it. I'm so surprised and delighted that you wrapped it and sent the chain. I'm wearing it right now........and may NEVER take it off!!!
Llana left here right before I asked my son to go check the mailbox. Would have done it myself, but I think I broke my toe Fri night so I'm trying to walk as little as possible. If it weren't for that, I would be running around yelling, "MY NEW PENDANT IS HERE! MY NEW PENDANT IS HERE!" Hope Llana is online cuz I can't call her after 5 pm so she doesn't even know yet that her new pendant is here. I'm dying to open hers and look at it, but I can't do that until she tells me I can, darn it!
Sands, you're absolutely the best!!! This is the nicest thing that anyone has done for me in a very long time. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it! It's beautiful! I hope someday to be able to make something even HALF as gorgeous as my new pendant!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Hey Guys n Gals On vacation I learned a new trick to make using wire on a stone much easier. At one of the rock shops they had used a dremel to make a groove around the edge of the stone and tapped the wire firmly into the groove. Got cutting wheels today, I'll give it a try tommorrow. I'll let you know. cookie

Hi Sands, Around the whole sides of the pendant. Of course that means the pendant has to be wide enough to allow for that, but the ones I saw were pretty thin. Need a steady hand, I would think. Sodalite with a mirror shine? WOW! Wish the pics did them justice. Sodalite has been a bugger for me to shine. Guess youv'e found the secret!

cookie if you got the drill press for the dremel you can take like a piece of 2x4 and lay the pendent on the wood and lower the blade to where you want it on the pendent lockit in and just turn the pendent on the wood so you get an even line all the way around

BE don't you dare open mine! I'll be there tomorrow afternoon after work and we'll open it together!
It's a good thing I came home when I did. Although I did get my sod down and watered without a problem, everything else has been a disaster.
The motor on the vibe tumbler came unscrewed and fell off The 3 lb. barrel I had obsidian in did something - not sure exactly what happened. It didn't explode, lid was still on it but there was powdery slurry - or what was slurry - everywhere. There was still water in the barrel, the obsidian was still tumbling and nothing on the table was wet, didn't look like it had been wet so I have no idea what happened. It wasn't like that this AM, so whatever happened, happened during the day. I just got a new color cartridge that I really needed to make up a letterhead that I need tomorrow. Put it in the printer and it prints everything in black! Says it a color cartridge, looks just like the old color cartridge, but doesn't print in color. And I killed the 10" saw blade this AM at BE's cutting a big rock. The rock slipped, the blade threw it completely off the table and the rock took a chunk out of the blade as it left the saw.
So, it's been a pretty crappy day! In some ways, in others it has been a good day. Got the 30,000 mile service done on the truck today and thought it would be about $200 to $250, but it was only $78.00! So, I went to Lowes and spent the difference - on new saw blades for both our saws, a 4" tile saw, tile for my bathroom remodel job and some other stuff I need for my RV remodel. So, it was a good day/bad day.
Getting the pendant tomorrow will perk me up for sure! Hope I don't have to work another 10 1/2 hrs. like I did last Tuesday and am not too tired to drive to town.
Sands, I am sure I will love it. It looked beautiful in the pic you sent and I am sure it is even prettier in real life!

I GOT MINE, I GOT MINE! Thanks BE for delivering it! Sands, it is just beautiful! Already have it around my neck, even though it is much too nice to be wearing with my work clothes! Thanks, also, for the chain! You are just too sweet! Sending you big hugs and kisses! What is the stone? I don't think I ever asked you. Looks like picture rock but whatever it's maaaaarvelous, darhling, just maaaaavalous! I love it. Also sets the bar for me on my grinding! Got some big shoes to fill there! Thanks so much! llana

Sands, I went to my sister's this afternoon and went to find Daniel, my neice's 2 yr. old, for my hug and kiss. I knelt down in front of him and told him to give me a big hug - he reached out and gently touched my pendant, looked up at me and said "Wok". Then hugged me. It was so cute. My neice loves it too!

Hey everybody, I am bumping this thread up to the top again. I don't want it to get lost because I like to go back and look at it for ideas on shapes to cut my rocks. I seem to always end up with the same shapes or very close. I also like to see how Sands has grown his talent for Cabojohns - although he was very good when he started! Gives me hope that someday I can do some as nice as these. Also thought the new folks might like to look through this thread and see some of Sands' work. It's an inspiration to all of us.
Sands, how about posting pics of some of your most recent stuff?

Sands, what's the second one? I have some and don't know what it it. I sold an earring set of it and one came unglued so I just repaired it. The owner wanted to know what the rock was and I couldn't tell them. Now, when I give it back, maybe I can ;D Just to fall over and die for, all of them. I was wondering how the Ebay thing was going for you.
