A good-natured competition is a plus for all involved, makes for better quality.

Greek plate out of pre-polish in tumbler. Reduced from 10mm thick to 5.5mm. Patterns are various reactive agents and metals. Went thrift store hopping yesterday. Pearl Polish 'sea anemone' and a fine art vase. Note how confetti was floated in on a higher layer. Bubble agent added. Hot dog blower at work here.

Busy Sun/Mon in the glass dungeon. Kilns and vase purchases exceed cab grinding and tumbling rates. The 3 tumbling areas keeps me hopping with 1 or 2 day steps and 4 steps total. A batch for each, rotary step 2, middle step vibe, last step vibe and the Lot-O has a batch finished this morn, clean out and add new glass A 2 shelf batch in the kiln out this morn. lips failed Cabbed yellow melt slab in kiln shot 1. Flat lap coated in yellow glass mud. Glass looks better after being divided out of melt slab. Thick Polish melt shards in kiln shot 2 a few cabs from a vase from prior slump, trying to catch up More purchases from yesterdays thrift store run and an Ebay purchase Batch from kiln shelf 1 and 2 from this morn in process of being shaped on lap Dungeon in wide open production mode, grinding equipment just outside now to load shaped cabs in rotary, clean out and reload Lot-O, uh Vibrasonic tomorrow, and load fresh shaped cabs in small rotary for coarse grind. Will be an 8 hour glass day. Yesterdays vase purchases will take another two 8 hour days to melt and prep for tumbler. Should be into about shaped 500 cabs going into tumble process by Wed morn. Most are thick and take more time. I get confused on the status of all these machines and stages. starting to slow down, like the rest of the week. Learning a ton. Developing cabbing skills. Bettering tumbling processes.

Like the blue, yellow and white pieces. Guessing that one is a machine made Beth and often they are spectacular in color/pattern however the glass does not agree with my heat schedule as well in most cases. They disagree in the form of surface vitrification. OK if shallow, but some times is deep. No big deal, in that case avoid fuse temps and go with the lower low temp slump to lay the shards flat. But no melt dome in that case. This vase was just laid flat. Better in person, when sitting out in the sun shaping on the flat lap with piece wet they really make a show.

jamesp did you smash the Pearl Polish 'sea anemone' yet? wait if you haven't No. That one was stuck in a cranny at the glass thrift shop. It may have not been seen for 7 months when it was logged in. The thrift shop discounts their pieces every mont and it had an 8 month old tag. So they had discounted it from $60 down to $12. $60 is the highest price I ever found in that shop. It really is not desirable for jewelry because I just noticed today the pearl is an inside top coat which the tumbler will destroy. If you want it I will send it to you. PM me your address. It's yours. Weighs a ton. Definitely made in Poland according to sticker.

I don't have one at home but I will take it to the high dollar glass shop next to one of the thrift store where they have backlights to display their uranium glass. That high end store has a fine assortment of super fine glass.

From the looks of it, it looks like it very well could be uranium. 1st thing I thought when I saw it.

The 'long store' as I call it, long and narrow and must have 3000 dust collectors at anytime is the best store. Cheap cheap cheap Been getting picky and leaving vases behind, they have to score well on jewelry color/patterns. Watched a 'wire wrapped bail' youtube tutorial this morning. Looks to be about a 3 minute wrap. It requires a hole drilled, but fat fingers can probably get er done. Like it ?

Real basic MsAli. Proves it was hand wrapped too. Plus you can use real gold/silver and say 925 in your ad. Aan probably rig a fly tying rig to assist ergonomic wrapping. Oh yea, only real fishers know what fly tying is.

May 10 Evolution of pendants from 20" X 20" X 9mm Greek plate. Repetitive process for vases and plates. Plate: Some rough sawn preforms after slumping plate flat. Some glass can be melt domed, not this one. Flat lap shaped preforms before tumbling: At 5 micron pre-polish stage and tumbled from 9mm thick to 5.5mm thick and rounded edges. 9mm too thick for pendants. Final .5 micron polish out of Lot-O: And the rest of the load out of the Lot-O including various vase shards and self composed melts: Fuse melted from 3/4" thick vase shards this load
