Mens prefer the red lips. What is it about the color red men like?
Personally I hate lipstick and have never found a red that I like, but I have grape chapstick I am addicted too
Hot mama lips OF COURSE. Red is hot by itself much less coated on a ladies lips ! Purple ? Purple my fav color, better not get near me ! I'll look for a purple vase. Got a few but they will not melt correct for lips. It takes specific conditions for lip melts, almost have to be hand blown glass for flow. Ha, with all the curves in the right places.(mind wondering here) Now you see why I got moved down to creations, love being in the basement.

So you guys used to distort the little cartoon characters ? No shame. Silly Putty is some space age stuff, it defies scientists to this day. The ole WW2 scientists out did themselves on that one. Oh yeah. The old Dick Tracy characters were especially interesting to distort.

I've been looking at those diamond coated discs on-line for awhile, same web site as that link posted here...........Since you've ordered a few of the 60 grit "Joiner" type, curious how well they have held up.....?........would they handle a 3450 rpm beating to shape rough jasper/agate (water applied) application for rough tumble prep......?
I have backing plates, so the cost of the discs at $10.00 (free shipping) a piece seems economical if they will last through a few 10lb sessions of 1" to 3" stones....?
How long did the order take to arrive....?
Thanks..... These are OK for glass, only electroplated. And better for less than 1000RPM. Would last me about 10 minutes grinding agate tumbles. If you want a cheap machine to grind agates for tumbling you need to get a 7X1/4 inch Advanta SINTERED tuck blade and mount it in a 3450 RPM cheapo tile saw as in the flickr link. I have tried stacked saw blades at 1725 RPM(super grinder) and they are a joke compared to this tile saw rock eater with $20 Advanta tuck blade and $99 tile saw. It is the 3450 RPM that does the trick for grinding agates. And the 30 grit sintered diamonds in the Advanta. MUST USE WATER, see my garden hose. Not all tile saw slots will allow the 1/4 inch wide blade. Blade on Ebay. Shipping time ?? el if i know. www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157683648790962Thanks James..........I'll look into a sintered tuck blade.........!

I have tried a few brands, the Advanta brand is hands down the best of several brands.

It appears I'm out of luck with Advanta........need 7"dia. - 5/8" arbor blade, they have wheels and disc heads that size, didn't see any tuck blades on their web-site........smaller or larger will not fit the bill.......I'll shop around and ask a few questions from my Covington buddies..... thanks again..!

I am curious jamespIt has been a few days... How are your pinch-bails holding up? Is the glass proving too brittle - or are the embedded materials (and lips!!!) adding a stability to allow bails? Can glass become stronger with the melt? I was considering both glass and obsidian and the use of pinch-bails, and was worried that the drilling of the hole would create a weakness that the pinch-bail would cause a high level of breakage ( )... same with using up-eyes and the top-of-cab hole causing weakness. You attaching this to a angle grinder or a bench grinder ? Covington and high speed rock grinders ? I would think liability may be an issue with Covington(silica dust and finger eating) This is a 7 inch cup wheel with 5/8-11 threaded connection. Or you can use two 5/8 nuts and clamp stacked saw blades/tuck wheels/plethora of other diamond wheels. With the 2 clamping nuts you can mount wheels for grinding on the side of the wheel or the outside edge of the wheel. I started with a bench grinder but water ate the bearings. Tile saw motors have water seals. Basically a home made bench grinder turned on it side www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/albums/72157648700305650

Glenn Well Glenn, some of this glass is so hard I can drop it from 8 feet onto concrete and it won't break. If a melt slab is made(average size 10X12 or 20X12 inches a test piece is always removed and dropped from 8 feet onto concrete. Most survive. If it breaks another test drop from 4 feet. If it breaks then another at 2 feet; if it doesn't survive 2 feet then the slab is trashed. Most of the glass I re-melt has seen 2000F+ making it really tough. I do frit(crush colored glass to add as color additives). I would prefer iron man for this job, or a rock crusher. I often use hobby opaque black glass as a backing color and pendants made from it can be thrown down and bounce 10 feet in the air repeatedly. never seen anything like it. Also, polished glass can be 100's of times stronger. With glass, scratches invite cracks, cracks invite breakage. Steel is similar but not near as dramatic.(ex. A scratch on a hardened helicopter rotor shaft = catastrophic failure) Try breaking a window pane by bending it over a board slowly with no scratch from a glass cutter. Then drag a glass cutter across it and it will break with less than 1/100th the force. Polished glass is one of the strongest substances on earth at resisting slow bending forces, however it is weak at resisting impact forces from hard objects. No problems in most cases with the pinch bails as long as the hole is not too close to the edge. So the 12mm long pinch bails to allow hole to be drilled further from the edge. Typical damage drilling from one side only. 1mm hole, damage is 2mm, pinch bail yoke covers damage

Excellent info James. Thank you! I would like for you to see how tough that black glass is. I guess the molecules line up well for strength. Yellow orange and red glass seems to have strength issues at times. I use glass nippers constantly instead of the slower saw. The nippers tell the story with every single piece I pre-shape. I can also tell if glass has been annealed well. If it nips off in straight lines it is usually well anneal ed. If not well anneal ed it breaks squirrelly. Some vases are poorly anneal ed. I am very particular about annealing and use a long annealing heat cycle.

Thanks again James.......:
"You attaching this to a angle grinder or a bench grinder ? Covington and high speed rock grinders ? I would think liability may be an issue with Covington(silica dust and finger eating)

Tile saw motors have water seals"
Should have made myself more clear........a blade that can be put on my 7" HK-170 saw........ Have considered my 6" bench grinder that has been modified (water sealed) that I use with Diamond faceting discs. I was not considering a "cup wheel" due to arbor threading issues.
Had no intentions of purchasing any 'High Speed" Covington grinding stuff.......only picking their brains for practical ideas, they have been very open and helpful when I stop in to purchase media and discs.....Just looking for a more aggressive application to knock out rough faster, to shape with diamond discs, then throw into the tumbling stages.......If I had the space to operate and store, I'd build a rock eater similar to your's.......But since I only process small batches, there's really no need to go to that extent.
I'll figure something out eventually......that's safe, economical, effective and time saving......"necessity is the mother to invention"........or in my case, lack of time, space and impatience.........lol
