James, at the end of the day, do your eyes hurt from looking at all the bright colors?
Definitely some beauties there.

Amazing results. You have nailed this. Got one more big thing to do Beth, increase the size of the hopper on the first vibe as it is backed up with 40 pounds of pendants. The pre-polish step is the longest tumbling step and the Vibrasonic is expensive to run with it's giant motor. It will tumble 50 pounds of rock, I just need to increase hopper from 4 pounds to about 15 pounds to keep it from holding up the process. I get tired of keeping it damp too as it runs hot and needs most of the attention with it's little 4 pound hopper. It is loud so it is kept way away from the house. PIA to constantly service it. I sure do like the Silly Putty idea for drilling. Going to try a few holes with it today too. Interested in your success at drilling. Robin's suggestion about using clay for a backer hit a cord.

James, at the end of the day, do your eyes hurt from looking at all the bright colors? Definitely some beauties there. Funny you mention that. Lots of time spent at the flat lap Jean, out in the sun where the light is good. For some reason am always blind when coming back in house for cig. Yes, the bright sun on the glass is blinding. And eyes slower to 'un-dialate' for some reason. Probably an age thing. The colors seem to have a psychological effect. Something with the endorphins I suppose. Like taking drugs w/out taking them. I was always into color generation as a nurdkid, prisms/kaleidoscopes/polarizers/black lights/moire patterns/Spirographs/optical color filters/diffraction grating. I was the only kid on the block that got all his toys from Edmund Scientific. Note orange aorta:

Hey rockpickerforeverI am going to go get some of that fine obsidian you shared with me and process it like I do the glass now that I can tumble it.

Tested a glue-on bail on a glass pendant purchased for 50 cents at a thrift shop. Good luck trying to remove this glue-on.

Lots of time spent at the flat lap Jean, out in the sun where the light is good. Note orange aorta: Probably more an effect of the bright sunlight than the bright colors. People with light colored eyes have it worse than those with dark eyes. And years of welding have probably done a number on your eyes, too. Are you sure that is an aorta, and not a piece of macaroni? Lol.

That {Upheaval Dome, Robert's Rift, Vanadium, Uranium, Tantalum, Niobium, Paradox Valley, Dinosaur National Monument, Upheaval comet} has really got my mind spinning. I never imagined I would find so much corroboration!

I got 4 colors of Silly Putty. I have more colors than hummingbirdstones has. I have yet to try drilling the glass using the Silly Putty Robin. Judging from the way it forms in hand under a piece of glass in tap water I would say it will be an excellent backing support for drilling. it seems totally resilient to water. You do indeed! Looks like it should work just fine. And just think, now when you need a little break, you can pull out the comics from the newspaper and have yourself a little fun! I've been busy the last couple of days and just now starting to catch up on the posts a bit. This thread always go so fast! Love the open lips. Love the green vase, especially the bottom. Those are going to make some cool alien lips.

I'm yo huckleberry MsAli . Tumble shaped glass from no telling where. Due to more attentive flat lap work and better melt domes most glass is only shaped with SiC 500 in the rotary for 2 days. The SiC 500 flat out removes glass when lubricated with red clay. Over removal a problem. If I were to start making money on these pendants I would go spend $5000 of the revenue(would be nice) each with 3 blowers. A Chinese group of blowers and the 2 local blowers with detailed blowing instructions. $5000 would buy 20 - @ $250EA of the China made vases. Not gonna happen w/my present budget. But that glass is el supremo. Out of the smallest rotary this morning in coarse(coarse being only SiC 500) after 2 days and ready for vibe: Well my huckleberry, I just got your package. You're kind of good at this glass stuff They are amazing. Cannot wait to try my new experiment with them Many thanks❤💋

I think 1dave rode in on a comet. Paradox Valley (presently assumed to be a salt dome) I believe to be part of the Upheaval Comet Impact event 150 million years ago. Different composition, but presently unknown.

I attached a glass cab on a board with hot melt glue. Sprayed with cooking oil first for easy removal of glue. Put more glue on tops and sides. Was able to pick up glue with dremel drill as needed. Had a great hole almost done. No chipping at all. Then, just as I was almost done, cat walked by and hit my arm. That ruined everything and the cab broke. Darn cat. Will try again.

Brilliant idea foiled by your cat. What were the chances ? Hot glue a totally ingenious idea fernwood.

Prototype wraps. I found some aluminum wire at a garage sale, so used that for one on left. When on a necklace, it hangs at a great angle. Think I'll redo that style in Sterling on the glass cab. Love how the glass cab on the right looks like a guitar pick, so used my guitar pick bail on that.
