I got some agate from Roy a few weeks ago and I finally got around to making a few cuts. This one will polish up REAL fine. 5 inches at the widest spot.

Sorry for the poor photo, today is the day to build a fire in the shop and do some work, should be able to get it polished. the cut is smooth enough so I will go directly to the bull wheel and get it sanded. and then polished. When viewed in person, it has some iris effect, that should pop out when polished. this slab is a bit over 1/4" Thick I will make one more slice a bit thinner.

I saw that deer pretty quickly. Reminds me of the rogue that savaged my weeping fir tree the other day with antlers. Where did that nice agate come from?

It took a real good polish. Very nice polish on that. You said you use a Bull Wheel initially to smooth it? How did you polish it.? I don't have a Bull Wheel. My approach is to polish a large piece(Brazilian or Petrified Wood) on the Vib-Lap, not as fast but does the job. After polishing the end, I cut it off and start the process again. One advantage is that as long as the piece is large I don't need any added weight to improve the grinding/polishing. For the smaller Brazilian I go ahead and cut slabs and then tumble them. Got 20 or so small Brazilian halves that I am trying to decide to use my 8" Expando Drum set up or to give them a go on the Vib Lap. Without the mass to aid it takes longer to grind/polish on the Vib Lap. Henry

I polish it on a large polishing machine, carpet on rotating 24 inch flat plate and cerium oxide. I have seen your setup, do you put weight on the slabs. Does not seem like a 1/4 slab would have enough weight to allow for polishing or it takes a while.
