Here are a few from a recent estate purchase..in advance thanks for any help you can offer. Cheers
#1 - Labeled "Chrome Nickel Silicate"...anyone ever heard of this as a lapidary material? Potential provenance?
#2 Labeled as "Silver Sydes. (or Sydcs.) Utah"....

I'm not sure about the "chrome nickel silicate" - doesn't sound right. Perhaps they couldn't decide whether the green was nickel silicate (aka, garnierite) or chromium. Looks like some garnierite in serpentine-type matrix that I've seen. Even less help on the second - is it a place (like Silver Reef mining area), something that contains silver, or just the name of this material? 1dave ? Pretty, though!

Pretty, though! www.silverreefutah.org/GEOLOGY.htmlSilver Reef is about 40 miles south of my home, west of I-15, just west of Leeds. I have a large silver nugget I picked up from one of the ruined buildings of the mining town. A departed friend had several beautiful silver fronds from the mine where many large tree trunks were fully replaced by silver. Personally, I think it has a LOT to do with the impact at Upheaval Dome ~200 miles to the east 150 million years ago You may read more about it here: ugspub.nr.utah.gov/publications/bulletins/B-44.pdf
