Hey folks, hope you're well! On a vacation back home to Vancouver Island, we've amassed the best collection of good Dallasite I have ever had in one place. Most of the stuff we collected is more tumble sized, but we have several larger pieces. Drummond Island Rocks , Tommy , jamesp , captbob and @shotgunner ( NRG ) have all used the Dallasite before, I believe, though I was much worse at collecting it back in 2014 when I used to. I'm not sure it's the greatest material on earth - uneven hardness etc. But I love the look and diversity in it. At the bottom of the post is a cabochon Tommy made back when. Here are a few pics from what we've been collecting. I'm just on the island for a couple days and we're seeing if there's any interest in either tumble material or bigger ones. Please express interest if so. Thank you!!

You can put me down for a box of cutters! I highly recommend folks jump in on this while you can. It's pleasurable and forgiving material to work with, bcrockhound is honest and generous to buy from, and so far every cabochon I've posted has sold. I love this stuff. oh baby baby can't get enough! haha

I have a 7" trim saw. Do you have anything for that? If so, I'd be interested in prices and shipping info. eta like Pat said- for cabbing.

Beautiful material!
I, too, would be interested in prices for slabbing rough for cabs.

bcrockhound I'm happy that the interest is so strong I'm definitely still interested but I do still have quite a bit of it so please do put me at the back of line when it comes to choosing sizes - just to make sure everyone gets the best chance at their first size choice. I'm same with what Brian just said - couple of large cutters if that is what is left and I'm happy as a British Columbia beach barnacle

bcrockhound , I fixed the tag in your OP for Chuck Drummond Island Rocks . It wasn't quite the right tag. If he's tumbled this stuff, I'd love to see his input. My concern for tumbling would be the matrix undercutting. Hope you don't mind the edit...just trying to help you out. ETA: Also fixed the tag for @shotgunner, as he is now NRG.

Thanks for the interest! I separated the rocks between tumble sized (3 inches at widest and smaller) to >3" size. Of good Dallasite, I have about 110 pounds of tumble size, and currently more like 80 pounds of cutting size, but we plan to go get more big ones tomorrow. Dallasite is a bit hit or miss as Tommy or Chuck could probably tell you. Especially on the bigger rocks, they may have sections that are very pretty and show potential, but then an ugly quartz/basalt backside. Ultimately I tried to only include ones that showed legitimate potential on the outside and would be worth getting into, but I can't tell what's inside of course. The tumble sized ones are more consistently good/great, but there are almost always regretful quartz/basalt spots, or weird shapes/undercutting. Please be aware it's a bit of a mixed bag kind of rock, but Tommy and Chuck have both made me excellent cabs and necklace pieces in the past. My hope is that any boxes I send out are mostly good, with at least some great pieces (to my eye anyway), but it's hard to find even one "perfect" piece of this stuff. If you get some and are not happy with it, let me know after and I'm sure we can work it out. We collect for the love of it and selling is just to do something other than fill buckets for the garage. If it seems fair, we thought we would do $5 per pound plus shipping (Canadian dollars, which would be about $3.77 USD). Shipping to the USA is usually about $35 for 15 pounds of rocks, maybe $50 for 20 pounds, or in that ballpark anyway. If you tell me the weight you want, I can get the quote from Canada Post online and then paypal you. I am tagging people in the order they posted, if you would like a box. Please let me know the kind and weight if so. Pat I am no expert on cabbing. Does 4" trim saw mean rocks no bigger than 4"? rockjunquie Does this mean you want bigger rocks/closer to 7"? hummingbirdstones romo NDK fernwood beefjello textiger It's just rough, not slabs. hnhstngs toiv0 wigglinrocks aDave Appreciate the edit! Below are some random pics of samples. I show near the end how some look on the bad sides. As I wrote above, pretty much every bigger piece has a good section and a nothing one. I have found a few unicorns of 100% big Dallasite pieces but they are very rare. I also included a video.

I think its great material, you get contrast with a slight tendency to undercut occasionally. These are beach stones so pretumbled and probably if you start with the smalls they could go straight to the vibe. Alas when I was on the right beach I was guessing what Dallasite was, and only picked up a few pieces. Vancouver Island has neat rocky beaches.

No, though I wish it did. 4" diameter blade can cut a little over 1" thick stone. I can measure it today.

bcrockhoundHere you go. 4” sawblade can cut up to rock 1.5” thick 7” blade up to 2.6” 10” blade up to 3.75” FORMULA depth of cut = 0.375 x diameter
