I've never made a phone order with JB. My hearing is not great and it depends on the frequency of the voice. Most of the time I have no problem. When the frequency is not good or there is an accent I ask the person to speak slower.
I have been trying to order some Diamond Pacific items from Rock Peddler and I communicate after placing the order on the web using emails. They have been very responsive. My latest order was Diamond Pacific coolant which I thought I would try because it was significantly cheaper than lube-cool from JB. I expected the order to be shipped quickly but the coolant needs to be shipped to them from DP or directly from DP. I was told that DP is moving stuff to a different warehouse and they are only working 4 days a week due to covid. Both DP and JB are located in Southern California and there has been a large covid impact and I also imagine the employees are stressed. Not an excuse for JB but an explanation.

Well up here in the armpit of the world internet service on a cell phone is very spotty that’s why I called because I kept loosing my signal. I have to agree with knave if they were closing why answer in the first place if you have no intentions of actually taking the call. I did ask him what the time difference was on the west coast from the east coast. It was 6:30 pm here and 3:30pm there pretty early to close They must keep bankers hours 9:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday and no weekends A $100.00 is probably chump change for them
The only reason I even tried to order from them is they have the thickest 6”x0.020x1/2” sintered blade that I can find for my trim saw. Apparently they stopped making red sintered 0.040 blades. I don’t want to use a bushing unless I absolutely have to. I have bushings first notched blades from Kingsley and there no good complete junk. Those notched blades I haven’t found one I like

Those red sintered blades lasted a long time and had a nice smooth cut on agate and took no time to grind the backs of agate cabs

At the risk of starting a flame war, yes the folks at JB are of a different ethnic background and perhaps run a slightly different business model than some other folks expect. But they are in business and trying to serve the community. If you want to shop elsewhere, do so. Lets not let nationalism or other misperceptions influence what they have to offer. These times they are capable of emphasizing the wrong things.

It doesn't matter to me if it's the first or second language of the person I am talking to. I get calls from telemarketers that I can't understand and a successful sales plan should involve people who are easy to understand. JB may be small enough that there is no dedicated customer service staff and answering to the phone is one of many tasks for the employee. Even so, I would expect management to want the people who answer the phone to be easily understood.

The last time I knew this is America where the first language spoken is English. With that said people doing business in this country had ought to step up to the plate and clearly speak the language of that country. If we went there to start a business wouldn’t the people there expect the same from us as a business owner not the other way around.

I don't actually care what nationality they are, but they SHOULD speak English if they are selling to English speaking people. That would go for anyone- even some people for whom English is their native language.

Never was a fan of "Johnson Brothers", their prices are a bit to high.... Shipping takes awhile too! I'm sure they are a good company, but there are better..

I brought from them a couple times this year, large grit boxes. First one no issues came quickly etc. Then I ordered another box of 60/90 40lbs and I got the tracking number the day I ordered, but it was never transferred to USPS. I had to call on July 27th and ask why it didn't ship yet. They got it out on the 27th and I got it on he 30th, but I shouldn't have to call and ask why it didn't ship.
