You have to kill them. Number of ways people do it. Catch and drown them or shoot 'em. Shooting them is more of a challenge. Got a pretty good .177 pump pellet pistol for varmints, but them dang squirrels can be a bugger to kill! We've got standard issue ground squirrels here. They will also dig under sheds and such. The last one was crawling up underneath our toybox trailer, inside the cabinet for the generator, leaving squirrel poops everywhere. They'll also chew wires on cars. Fortunately, this one just left poops in the engine compartments of both my car and the truck, didn't eat the wiring. Ugh! Between them and pack rats they can really make a mess of things. Luckily, we don't have a lot of rock squirrels around here, but we have seen one in the last few weeks. Vince will play Elmer Fudd and try to shoot it with the BB gun. He's actually very good at it. Haven't seen a pack rat around here in quite a while, but we do have poison out for them and mice in the greenhouse, shed and saw shop.

I found a funny looking rock today And I returned it home The Incredible Mr Limpet! Growing up here on the coast of southern California, I've been going to the tide pools from a young age, so am familiar with these. But I really like the keyhole limpets, they are special. I've got the shell from a couple of them (not self collected), that are about 4 inches long, with, yes, a hole in the center, kinda looks like a volcano. But they are really cool when alive and you see them at the tide pools. Their mantle extends in some species partly or completely (as in Megathura crenulata) over the shell. Looks like they are covered in shiny black rubber. Although superficially resembling "true" limpets, keyhole limpets are in fact not closely related to them.

Botanicals for making witches brew. It can be purchased online, like Etsy, other places. I know it is used as a medicinal herb. It can be used for art projects as well. Funny that you mentioned Witches Brew. I have an Usnea Witch that I made from a piece of driftwood and a long clump of Usnea for her hair. Now I have to find the pictures in the bowels of my archives.

Funny that you mentioned Witches Brew. I have an Usnea Witch that I made from a piece of driftwood and a long clump of Usnea for her hair. Now I have to find the pictures in the bowels of my archives. Your Usnea haired witch sounds adorable. I also noted that Usnea can be useful for weight loss. Too bad it can damage one's liver! Toss up. Hmm, lose the lbs some other way, or suffer liver failure? Think I'd take the first option. Nothing is easy, no magic pills or potions. I just took a picture of the two keyhole limpet shells I have. Just getting them out of the camera now. "Now I have to find the pictures in the bowels of my archives." I can relate to that! I have a limpet fossil on rhyolite I found out at the Hauser Geode beds. Can't find the specimen, so can't take a new pic. But I know I have a pic in the bowels of my computer as well. I'll be taking a look.

Here's a pic of the two keyhole limpets
I overestimated the size a tad, closer to 3.5 than 4 inches.
