" Bob likes to feed the wildlife, I have a photo of him hand feeding a kangaroo rat at our camp in Quartzsite from a few years back. I have video of it climbing all over him, getting treats (Nacho Doritos)." Fernwood, see that comment about the Nacho Doritos. Try some of them for bait for those varmints. A few from today. Same views as previous. Only received about 5" of snow here, but due to wind tunnel, my car had about 10" of snow over ice on it. Some drifting in driveway and about a 12" hump of ice/snow between driveway and road from plows. Could have been worse.

Newest family member Calypso just got spayed, microchipped and stuck in the cone of shame. Time to mellow out and watch a movie

Today at the grocery store I found a bad circuit breaker. Hmm guess it is $400. Must have gold contacts in it.

Well it's been a work in progress for a couple of weeks but today I finally moved my latest wood working project inside for use. My wife has been craving a rustic bench that matches our paint decor and will serve in the entryway as a place to sit and put our shoes on etc. I had already made the weathered looking coat/key/leash cabinet on the wall in the last picture, so the bench needed to match that. The raw wood project as it came together... all surfaces have been deeply wired-wheeled to give it a very rough grained appearance. Next a dark coffee color stain. The finished project with a coat of our gray color scheme paint rubbed out to expose just enough stain to give it a nice weathered look. It finally dried nicely and was moved to it's indoor home today. We're both super happy with how it turned out and now I get to make another smaller one just like it for another corner near the front door.

That’s a really nice patina, great job on that bench!

Something fun to do, ma says I now [retired] have too much free time. Harbor freight 3 1/2" tube flashlight donated the battery pack and L.E.D., switch is under valve stem. Wood is choke cherry, shrinks and cracks like crazy when it dries. I poured resin into a mounted balloon for the drip. Two pins in the fixed jaw of the wrench keep the hose bib in place.

I wish! It's a crayfish from abt a football field down the road where there is a "ditch" which is the very end of a tributary of the Elizabeth River.
eta- BTW, its pronounced "lobsta". My people were Maine lobstermen.

You know it's been raining a lot when you see this in front of your house.... Four more dozen would be great, with Old Bay and some beer.

More left coast vocabulary—- we call them craw dads or craw daddies. Or cray fish. I think bug is more descriptive. Sometimes it is best not to know what that thing on the end of your fork actually looked like when alive. Eeeew! Lol
