This Is my latest completed batch out of the Lot O. Wasnt sure if should post here or In tumbling forum but decided here since batch is mostly dremeled "cabs" with a handful of rocks to fill up the load. Theres 36 total, few are not domed, couple that ended up with fractures (my mistakes) and some where the shape was bit more wonky than I realized when started the batch. But overall I'm I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. So without further ado.... Il start with the Owyhee jasper. Really happy with these with exception of the one on right that I dropped and fractured when pulled it out for a sneak peek after 24hr in polish .... Next up are some Botswana's. They polished up nicely but really only like the oval one. Dont care so much for shapes of other two. These are from piece of coral I found locally. Color turned out to be a bit bland and theres some undercutting where the polyps meet surface . But still one of coolest rocks I've collected so far and took nice shine so no complaints here. These are locally collected pet wood. . Took a good shine. Some locally collected palm wood (I assume). Took a super shine and better looking in person. There are some blue/green ish areas that dont show up well in pic.

These are the rocks put in to fill up the batch. All locally collected. Whole batch together- And lastly, this pic taken to better show the Cabs minus the shine and glare- Thanks for looking!

Excellent! I really like the large, oval Owyhee. It looks like a Cross. Others that caught my eye are the teardrop Botswana, the unknown with black and the coral.

Good heavens.... maybe I should toss my Genie. Between you and miket , you're proving I don't need it. No.......don't do that.....lol......You're Genie work is awesome. Dremel work takes patience, time, a very steady hand and another learning curve..........softer stone agate/jasper (not Granite) of smallish size work best......not that you don't have the skills, but alot of time is spent swapping out bits/wheels and compounds until you find the "sweet spot" combination of speed and pressure applied for that particular stone. You'll notice many of the members here who exhibit their "Dremel" cabs, seem to stay with a specific size......and variations of similar stone material type, getting their best results. More than likely, one reason is because they have perfected a specific tool/method/compound application that has provided speed and predictability..........and they are very Patient Souls....not one of my strong suits...........lol

Yeah that owyhee is one of my favorites. Made for my 94 yr old grandfather. He wanted to attach a cross to a stone but i cut this for him instead.

Absolutely fantastic work, sir! Very beautiful cabs, great shine. Maybe some day you'll share your secrets with me.

One question, were those pictures taken outside? They're great, too!

No secrets here, happy to share. I'll try to make a thread when have some time with how I do mine but gotta warn you that they are by no means perfect...tho I'm getting better with working all stones in same general manner now and results are fairly consistent. Domes arent perfect but meet my expectations for what I'm working with. And thanks! yes, the pics were taken outside in shade. It Displayed the shine better than in Direct sunlight or garage work lights. Kinda obscures the patterns more so on some than on others tho.

That is an awesome shine! I have a lot-o, but haven't been able to get that kind of shine in my rocks. May I ask you what were your steps, grits used, type of polish, etc.? Thanks
