Good to know about Etsy; was considering it for extra income but think I'll be passing. Doesn't seem like it has enough perks for me since I already run my site and have full control. The main perk seems to be millions of eyeballs brought to the page with national (worldwide?) advertising. The problem is they can't stop messing with it and the search function has become some convuluted mess (like a google search algorythm) that noone can figure out anymore. That is most definitely true about the advertising. Every time I try to find a supplier, it seems like I get 400 Etsy ads. I wonder how they stack up to Google Ads in pure traffic numbers (since Etsy advertising doesn't cost "extra" per se).

I started an ETSY account but shut it down before it was established
need to give it more thought before setting up the parameters
maybe sale a few have some fun make some social connections
know I'm not ready to try to make it any kind of entrepreneurial success
purpose being just to get rock'n hearts out into the virtual social milieu that way they'll echo through out the digital eternities ha

mohs - I've been tossing around the idea for awhile of buying from RTHFers and then selling on my site. I don't have enough time to even bust out a terribly done wrap lately myself...too many irons in the fire. Maybe in time if there's enough interest.

Etsy has been a good experience for me because making cabs is a hobby and sales are an extension. I would have a completely different perspective if it was a side job. I don't advertise and get almost no views from Etsy marketing. I make cabs, list them and let nature take it's course. I haven't sold anything this month and am not concerned; no financial goals and I sell more than enough to fund the hobby. Much better situation than when I was a hobbyist. Listing, communication and shipping are easy.
I have a lot of listings some where I have a good percentage of a particular material. I can find my items on Edge and Google near the top of the results, but it doesn't generate visits. Views, visits and likes on Etys are positive feedback but generally unrelated to sales.

I started selling because I had 20 years of cab work sitting in boxes and that made no sense. My goals were to make the hobby self funding and have my work seen. Things haven't gone exactly as expected. Over a third of my sales are to two silversmiths. This is probably because of pricing. I've had one sale this month to one of the silversmiths; 29 cabs. This is not a brag. I wonder why she buys so many. I've seen her work and it has to take time.
