Once you see empty shelves, you realize what a blessing the full ones are. I always wondered what people from places such as Russia thought (when they had shortages and lined up for goods) when they saw our malls and stores....now I kinda know.

Cropped your photo. Sweet weapon. Shotguns are very versatile. My first gun when I was 11 was a 12 GA pump. I got my daughter a 20GA pump a few years ago. In a self defence situation, I would much rather face a pistol than a shotgun. Hopefully, it never comes to that, but at least you have it in case you need it. What was wrong with the first one?

When I was six years old, dad cut the stock down on a bolt action 16 GA and took my younger brother and I hunting. He put a rubber pad (boot) on the stock to absorb some of the shock. As I got older, never could get as many doves with my 16 as dad and brother did. They both had 12 GA pumps.

It's easy to shut down so many institutions for a few weeks. After a month or two the ramifications become a much more serious pandemic than this virus IMO. Wait and see. Ain't seen nothing yet.
Just remember Italy now has a population of 60 million with a long term annual death rate of 1 per 100 people meaning an average 11,500 people die every week in Italy at present. Most of the people dying in Georgia are over 65 years old. Are we going to continue to create a much bigger international problem over (yes) an aggressive flu that appears to kill less people than many seasonal flu's ? Aren't the rates of corona deaths decreasing in the countries first struck ? Conveniently so for China.
The media is freaking out the world IMO. Leading a lot of people into an over panicked situation. Watch and see the serious damage all these shut downs cause. This present day world DOES NOT react well to shut downs. I don't trust the younger media bunch. I don't trust the younger Google bunch either. I say they have selfish motives like internet ad time, controlling economies and influencing political interests.
Welcome to "The Shut Down Pandemic" Hate to sound cold blooded insensitive but death is part of life.

Welcome to "The Shut Down Pandemic" Hate to sound cold blooded insensitive but death is part of life. I don't think it's an either/or situation. I think the sickness and death is just as bad as the shutdowns/bailouts. I really do. The shutdowns and bailouts are going to and do affect us all- the living. It will affect us all for a long time. I do think this is a lot worse than the average seasonal flu and that some of this panic was necessary, but the hysteria is not. The media loves this stuff and shoves doom and gloom and points fingers all day long, 24/7. No wonder people are freaked out. Yes, there are some unsavory motives out there. I just fear for my grandkids's futures.

Looking at the other influenza outbreaks in chronology 1918, 1957, 1968 and 2008 modern medicine has greatly reduced the death rate. 1918 was frightening considering 1/3 of the world population became infected. But it was complicated by the war and having a second outbreak by a mutant flu. Granted they do not have a vaccine finalized for this one but the outbreaks seem to be slowing down in the countries hit earlier.
Is corona threatening our youth more than this influenza out break or is the damage to the economy and our jobs. I know of one friend of a friend's 66 year old diabetic uncle whom has been a victim thru my wife. I know many people whom have lost their jobs, suffering from financial damage due to stocks falling, kid's out of college unable to advance into their careers, etc due to the shut downs. The damage from the shut downs will greatly accelerate with time. Especially in this day. Time will tell sooner than later on this issue.
The media owns the emotions of a serious percentage of this country. This massive group of people are to blame for allowing the media to steer their emotions. The drama seems to have become a source of false medicine. Boring routine normal safe life style must not be enough for them due to our less than stellar economy of recent. It appears they have become emotion junkies. Add the outbreak of control freak mentality. Mother Nature does not often respond well to mankind's controls.
Me and wife transferred to Netflix/Amazon tv without any public channels 2 years ago. Wife goes in the box and turns on ABC/NBC a week ago to watch corona updates. Oh my God, in 2 year's time the media has become the biggest bunch of drama queens imaginable. The science and psychology of drama has greatly improved ! I'm stunned.

I will not watch any of that crap. Any channel. It can be helpful to know what the other side (regardless of YOUR side) is hearing on their news sources. I find it useful to know the arguments (stupidity) which I will encounter BEFORE I have to face it. Makes it easy to have talking points in order. Maybe sooner or later we can just shoot the dumbf*¢ks, but as of now, having valid & UNDENIABLE counter points ready can be entertaining. Watching a person with an opposing view try to stammer their way out of a debate is - VICTORY!

Hear enough about it from the people you're around to not be totally oblivious to what seems to go on. No desire to watch even from an entertaining perspective lol.

I do not watch any broadcast news and haven't in several years as it's a waste of my time and an insult to my intelligence. Same with the Virus. There are a few articles which I gleam from sources that actually provide real data and info. Armed with enough data and facts one can begin to make rational decisions about anything. It is sad how many folks need to be told how to think. It does seem that I have not seem to be any sense of panic about the Virus, at least in my area. There is more concern about the loss of jobs and the stress that is causing some folks. I wonder why we don't care as much about the 40,000 people a year who die in Car Accidents and the many more who are severely injured, every year!!.

If you aren't dying from the virus (or from other causes, but happen to have the virus?) you dying doesnt matter.

When you are in lockdown in your own house, you are not around any other people! I get the majority of my news from this forum (Egads!), and blips on the internet.
Can't believe any of the pablum the MSM is dishing out. Right now, and even long before.

The media (all) thrive on sensationalism........everything today is a reality show........who's reality....? Depends on what social circle one rotates within, like opinions. Everyone one has. The difference today is there are less who restrain/refrain from voicing in fear of not being "relevant"....relevant, to who...?
I still prefer the old moniker or saying..."children should be seen not heard"........like most people who seek attention and recognition for the sake of relevance and their 5min's of the spot light........the shame is society is willing to monetarily compensate and reinforcing each other for their opinions......stop paying them (turn-off the source) and they may not shut-up, but at least they won't have you as a captive audience anymore.....!

This is the real news with a time stamp. (Remember Paul Harvey ? The man spoke the truth, so much so it was like a big bite of euphoria.) A good man like Evan expresses the REAL problems so many are facing as of March 19,2020. He speaks truth. No media exaggeration. These are the folks steering our country. This influenza virus will likely be a tool for the media to mind screw the average person for another 12 months. The world will survive a slightly above average death rate of mostly us older folks. It will not fare well with a 12 month shut down pandemic. Today is April 13. About 3 weeks since Evan started this thread. People don't even know what planet they are on presently due to a flu that has killed +/- the amount that a seasonal flu kills. The authorities closing everything down need to wake up. People need to go back to work. And soon. Who are they ? What information are they using to make these decisions ? See 'war propaganda'. See the power it has. Ask Nazi Germany about it's use by England. The media is no different. Propaganda is a science. Exaggerated media coverage is not bad, it is beyond criminal. No different than war propaganda but it is being used internally within our country. It appears the average US citizen will be living in darkness until the media is policed or prosecuted into being honest and bring reality to light. pizzano, HankRocks, rockstock Your opinions were treasured. The organized science of propaganda, amazing. An art form. Open link, scroll and scan read for 60 seconds. 2005 article.: www.globalissues.org/article/157/war-propaganda-and-the-media

On a positive note, internet sales are flying. For fire pits anyway. Probably because people are cancelling vacations and buying toys for staying home. Record visits 2 Sundays in a row.
