What do I do when I'm bored? Why, I play with my rocks. Idle hands and all that... Here's a few I have polished. One is a "Ghost Fairburn" and trying to get a good picture of the three together is next to impossible with the lighting available.
Thanks for looking. Again.

Happy Friday, boys and girls! I found this two on Wednesday, not the best Fairburns I have but better than getting skunked! Plus, it was a super nice day to hound, 75 degrees and no wind. Two of my sons went with me so it was a good day overall. Here's number one, kind of different. I wonder if there's more banding hiding under the exterior...
I would HAVE to cut that first one. I HAVE to know what's in it! LOL!

Both are pretty and appear to have potential lurking under the surface.

Well worth the wait my friend! That's only the second ghost Fairburn I've seen. Gorgeous, beautiful, astounding, astonishing, captivating...you get the drift!

That one kind of comes with a backstory. I received a handful of cactus needles when we were hounding that day and sat down to get them out. One of my sons was with me that day and brought over some tape that he had in his backpack (which works wonders for pulling out needles, I might add). I looked down and saw this one partially buried and dug it out. He still accuses me of swooping it from him.
Edit-
I found the original post from when I decided to cut this one, jasoninsd, in case you wanted to see what it looked like before...

I'll never say it. I won't push anyone to cut. I have many stones I'm not ready to cut (indecision), and some I'll never cut (like 'em the way they are).

Finders keepers! Good to know about the tape! I am constantly pulling needles out of my fingers due to "plunging" my hand toward a possible Fairburn...only to quickly pull it back with 10 needles in my in four of my fingers! LOL Thanks for posting a link to that thread. I hadn't seen that one. Pretty brave! My father has told me on more than one occasion in my life that there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity...the defining factor is whether you succeed! Good job for succeeding!

Absolutely not stupid...I've seen stupid...up close and personal...as in some of the crap I've pulled...and didn't succeed! LOL

Yeah, I know it's Monday but two of my sons and I got to go out yesterday for a little bit. And I mean a real little bit. By the time I got off work at one and drove forty-five minutes there wasn't much time to hound before dark. Maybe an hour and a half at best. I found this guy, it was the winner of the day. It looks amazing, until you get to the size. But I'll take it, it's better than getting skunked! Now, before you get too excited (although, I did...), here's the size.

I'm gonna say it before someone else does...size doesn't always matter! What details on that little guy!

That's a little beauty, Mike! I bet it would make an awesome ring stone.

Thanks, hummingbirdstones! I have quite a few that would make good ring stones... Unfortunately, I've never made a ring!

I know you’re not much into specimens, but that one has serious character as is. The texture adds to the colors and banding. At my house that would sit on a shelf, maybe in on of those magnifying boxes.
In my younger years, that would’ve been stared at while... um...never mind. We’ll just go with 🍻
