Randy, it's amazing how similar that last one is to the looks of Burro Creek Pastelite!

Randy, it's amazing how similar that last one is to the looks of Burro Creek Pastelite! Yes indeed, I noticed that in this one and a few others in the past. It even has that opal feel to it like pastelite. The photo was taken fresh off the saw while wet and I bet it will polish well with minimum undercutting.

You are correct about the lack of undercutting. I've cabbed several pieces from poop like that one. It had some of the best consistency of all the poop I've worked.

I'm not purposely trying to see "other" rocks in the poop...but if I only saw the bottom third of that last pic, I would've sworn it was Cheetah Agate!

Here's a dandy specimen where we can interpret interesting features.

Look at how the texture on this side is smashed down a bit. I think this is the side that hit the ground when the critter pooped. It must not have been too soggy because it retains a fair amount of texture.

Now look at the opposite side which I interpret as the part that landed sunny side up. It has more texture that's not smashed down like the opposite side. This is classic turd texture from southern Utah coprolites.

Now we get to see the beautifully agatized interior that preserves the contents of what was eaten. I'd like to get insights of a Paleo botanist on this one.

Very interesting. I think he was eating flowers. Sometimes I think I need to study paleo botany so I can take our knowledge of these things to the next level. I'm sure there are many things yet to be discovered if somebody with the right skill set were to examine these strange fossils.

The flowers look like poop plumes. What a great specimen!
