Dang cheapo Lot-O springs... busted sawzall blades seem to make a decent replacement Ah, forgot you mentioned that in the past. That is some durable steel no doubt. Thanks oregon.

jamesp Would the size and/or weight of the counterweights not impact anything? I just don't have enough experience with vibe tumbling to know by feel what would be good or bad. I don't want to make the vibe more aggressive by mistake and not even know it. Also, I don't think the shaft will be in the exact same position. It'll probably be close though. Close probably counts. you never know about vibratory machinery though. little changes can make a big difference. You will be chartering new territory. Yes the counterbalance makes a big difference but you can make some that are adjustable or the weight can be reduced... The Vibrasonic has adjustable counterweighting, it can be reduced for 6 pound hoppers or increased to handle 100 pound hoppers. set at minimum(6 pounds) it will barely move 14 pounds of rock. Get Shaun to send you a photo of that Lot-O with the mod done.

Shawn sent me a video of it it action. I've uploaded it to YouTube. That looks like an impressive setup waterboysh. It appears to have metal counterweights too. Looks like it has a rugged base type mount motor. Shawn should be able to answer the big question - does it polish ? Or in case of a Lot-O does it polish glass and other soft materials Lot-O's are known for doing so well. My Lot-O has broken the springs twice. No big deal but hopefully the different motor won't aggravate that situation. I'm curious if those counterweights are adjustable. Also, it would be nice if the Lot-O could run thicker slurry for doing softer materials. I found my Lot-O was underpowered when running 4 tablespoons of sugar per 4 pounds of rocks/glass like I run in the Vibrasonic. Glad you looked into Shawn's new setup. Good to see someone try a different arrangement.

The counter weights are adjustable. Pop off the end caps to adjust.

He said they've been using it since July, so I assume it's working for them. However, there is no telling how long the motor will last. That, and the need to cut off the bracket that holds the OEM motor, is the main reason I am not ordering this right now and trying it myself.
Yes, the counterweights are adjustable. Go to the Amazon page and scroll down just a little and it'll show you a picture of how it's done. You can't change the weight amount, but you can spread it out to make the weight more or less offset.
Mine would get bogged down with a thicker slurry too. If I ever get mine up and running again, I am going to change to straight 220 SiC instead of 120/220 and see if that helps. Even after adjusting the dowel, I had a hard time keeping things moving once the slurry got thick. You can only add so much water to help thin it out.

The motor should last awhile. It's rated for up to 80lbs and I doubt you will hit that in a lotto.
