Naw, dreamrocks , I can do without that. I am from a previous generation (actually from a a few generations ago, lol) when there was no such thing as a participation trophy. There was no need for ego-boosting, or validation, everything (well, the small stuff, anyways ) was done for fun, not to prove anything. This does not count the cute little bowling trophy I got back in about fourth grade in league play over the summer. We earned that trophy by placing first in a newbie's tournament, but no thanks to me. I had previously bowled, the younger girls, two or three years younger (they named our team the "Daffy Dillies") had never been on the lanes in their lives. They started out awful, as one might expect, but had so much room for improvement - which they did - that they actually won first place in the league. Me, on the other hand started out decent, but then tanked over the season. Fond memories..

I hear yeah I have to bust out laughing every time I hear about the participation trophy’s to me that whole thing did nothing for the Kidd’s that won one. I should say kids of that generation. We had to earn our place on the court to play on the basketball team or the same to play baseball and earn your place in the ball field otherwise you were a bench warmer
What did that really do for them in the real world? Nothing Except make them think everything should just be given to them with out any type of effort put into what ever it maybe they want.

So many awesome entries. Gonna be a tough vote, but all are winners in my eyes. It’s just really fun to have a chance to be part of this forum. This is my first time entry because I’m a Newbie here.

I just found a plaque I got in 5th grade for being “Best Sport.’ What it meant, essentially, was that as the immigrant kid, I sucked at the American sports, but I didn’t throw a fit over losing.

Or, not, speaking English, being handed the ball, and finding out the hard way what the ever-so-diplomatically named “Smear the queer” was about.

Late to the party, but I brought good beer. A little Gary Green with some curly grain. The photos do not do the stone justice, but there is a storm blowing through today, so no good lighting. IMG_20200930_135405 by nik1924, on Flickr IMG_20200930_140502 by nik1924, on Flickr

If I had the time, I'd change my entry, since I suddenly like this one better. Today has been crazy, and I probably wouldn't have the chance to submit all the pics until late, and I don't want to do that to Tommy, so I'll post it just so people can see how it turned out. ok I guess il throw mine into the mix. material is locally collected (texas) wood. lot of the more interesting pieces I find are not really big enough to do anything but cut them in half. this was from a half I cut while back. unfortunately, there seemed to be one flaw after another to grind out and still didnt get them all out... the rough-this is bottom of cab- this is side I domed-

Between all the great talent displayed here and number of choices it makes picking just one ☝️ a very difficult thing to do
