So I'm seeing a few different methods of groove cutting, and wondering what you think would be easiest for a beginner. I'm just mucking around now, but want to try my hand. I've seen diamond files used, glass cutting machines, thin blade saws (cut one this way; looks OK but not great)... I was thinking a glass grinder is probably the easiest because you can rest stones against the bed surface to keep everything even, but I don't know enough about it. I've always been a manual tool kind of person.
Thoughts?

I just saw a video on You Tube * Of a lady who cut a groove on a cab. Using diamond files only It was really excellent vid and process
My present set up is using a Gryphette grinder with their groove bit. I’ve had that grinder going on for 10 years and no problem The bits last a long time Matter of fact that was the company that I just order 2 bit but only received one. But they last a long time
Anyway other rockers will have other methods But this one is hard to beat I would think And fairly inexpensive That grinder as other uses for rocks also
* O I see Mel --you mentioned files filed under groovy

Great minds think alike I suppose!
@mohs I bet it's the same video I watched. Was it the one cutting the maroon colored stone? I was really impressed, but I don't know that I trust my hands to do a steady/even groove with a file. But I don't trust myself with the internet & a bank account some days either!
One more thing to add to the never ending tool list.

@mohs
I picked up a glass grinder for a cheap price off a local glass guy. Educated him a bit on tumblers while I was at it; he had planned to tumble glass for stepping stones in a Thumler, and asked me what I thought of his plan. Not gonna lie, felt good to share my knowledge with someone new.

Gotta share the knowledge Ed!
I'm hopefully going to get to try it out soon... got some groove bits on order, new saw came in Friday, and new rocks today.
Of course, as always, next week is just busy busy busy with work but maybe I can squeeze in some free time. Hopefully....

The secret working name will show up. Use that as knave said. Some people have the same name as their public name. Many do not. Good luck!

Well the bits came today....except with my grinder (Inland WizlingCG), the diameter of the diamond edge is too big. The plastic bracket holding the sponge in place rubs on the bit. Looks like I need to buy a different bracket. What a week.
Not a single thing has worked right.
(Later edited because I should not be allowed to try and use tools without tea and a good sleep. The bit fits fine upon closer examination, I just had the bitsert reversed).
