Ok, it's your first Fairburn find so I won't call you a ninny, but the next one -- all bet's are off! I'll take the moniker or ninny! It's a lot better than some of the other names I've been called! I can't for the life of me understand why so many people have thought my name was Richard over the years! LOL (Sigh)...I "think" it's got more to reveal...but I really am so on the fence on this one! I agree! I am getting better! (One is more than none...so that's "better" right!?!?) I have an idea this one might sit for a bit...it's going to take awhile to come to terms with my decision. If I leave it as is, it will always be that way...once it's cut, there's no undoing it. I think miket has WAY more and WAY gooder (it's a word!) Fairburns! I've got a lot of catching up to do with Mr. Fairburn! I've actually been waiting to see if he will chime in his opinion on what to do with this one...(hint hint) That’s how I approach it too. You can’t uncut it. When and if it is time, you will feel at peace about it. This one is probably going to sit on the shelf and stare at me every day until I make up my mind...no matter how long it takes! Nice one, Jason! Way to go!!! Thank you my friend...and thanks for the input/advice! Nice patterns and the huge size. A wonderful find. Thank you! I would have loved for there to have been more/larger banding on the outside...but therein lies the mystery of the inside! Way to go, nice find and yes, it's a gooder.

Hey you found one Jason! Aweaomesauce I know, right!!! Maybe this'll start a trend! I used to tell people in pool league, "You made one. Good job. That's the start of a winning streak!" Maybe the same will apply here! LOL

I know they know! Selfish little varmints! (Actually I kinda feel badly that I took some food outta their mouths...)

Great finds, jasoninsd! Love the pictures of the porcupines. I've never seen a live one in the wild -- only dead ones on the road.

They eat them because of the vitamins and minerals they get from them

You should have seen the one I see about two years ago walking along the road heading towards a pond his tail was straight up and swinging it from side to side like the pendulum on a grandfather clock Heres my business if you got to close to him

You should have seen the one I see about two years ago walking along the road heading towards a pond his tail was straight up and swinging it from side to side like the pendulum on a grandfather clock Heres my business if you got to close to him Yep! The first one had his tail up right away when I got within about 15 feet of him. That's how I finally saw him! I was really lucky. After the first one wandered around the hill, I kept going up the hill and that's when I saw the second one. That one was headed in the same direction I was going! I lost track of him/her as I kept looking at rocks. I finally found it again when I got within about 10 feet of the tree it was hiding under! I quietly talked to it (asking again where the Fairburns were!) and made my way around it and over the hill...in the direction the first one had been heading! I could see a ways off as I got to the top of the hill, but didn't see the first one. I convinced myself it must have wandered over the next hill. Nope! I was making my way down the hill and just as I got within about FIVE feet of a spruce, it shifted under the tree and let his position be known! I quietly talked to that one too (as "soothing" as I could) and made my way around it too! After that, EVERY tuft of prairie grass looked like the south end of a north bound porcupine for the rest of the day...and there was A LOT. LOL

Great finds, jasoninsd! Love the pictures of the porcupines. I've never seen a live one in the wild -- only dead ones on the road. If you do ever see one in the wild...I recommend from a greater distance than what I did today! LOL I too hate seeing the dead ones, so I was really happy to see these guys today...a little too close for comfort, but still happy. I actually saw their den a few minutes before I saw them. I didn't know it was their den at the time, but in retrospect, I know that's exactly what it was... If you get a chance, look up "porcupine eats pumpkin" on YouTube. I think his name was Charlie. Funniest sounding animal eating something you'll ever hear! (Num num num!) Edit: his name is Teddy
