Been awhile since I've done any, it's been way too hot upstairs (no central a/c). Finally got inspired again and made this from one of the pieces that earthdog sent me. This piece is so pretty, its got more of a matte finish and my hubby thought it was a piece of wood. Thanks for looking, Cher

Gee, you are getting the touch. It looks good. That 1/2rd makes great binding wire. I love the stone.

Cher are you using half hard wire or dead soft? I find the 1/2 hrd wire is so hard to get around those turns & curves. I love the wrap!
Question for you: If you had a stone that had a little divot in it (not a whole hole but a nicely hollowed out area) where it wasn,t smoothed out, would you cover it or leave it?

Question for you: If you had a stone that had a little divot in it (not a whole hole but a nicely hollowed out area) where it wasn,t smoothed out, would you cover it or leave it? This is dead soft wire. When (if) I get better at it I'll move up to the 1/2 hard. Boy Tweet, that's a good question but I really have no answer. A lot depends on the spot in question and if it's showing the character of the stone or not. If it's too detracting, I probably wouldn't use it unless I could cover it so it wasn't so noticeable or use it as the back side of the pendant. Thanks for all the compliments, Cher

WOW CHER- It has been a while since we say any of your creations! Lovely- Perfect sizing and complimentation to the stone- and just enough pizazz to highlight the stone patterns-

Very pretty Cher. I love it! Are you still selling some on Ebay? I have to many irons in the fire. I can't seem to get anything completed right now because I'm trying to do too many things. Maybe someday, mine will look like that. Trish

I have sold some on ebay and some to friends before they got there. I've been working on the page for it some this morning, if I get it done it'll go up tonight.

Very pretty! The wire wrap really compliments the stone! You guys are so talented! I really admire and envy your work. Even though I have all this free time now, I am still so busy trying to catch up inside and working in my flower gardens. Tumbling stones is about all I have time for right now. I can't wait to get my saw going. But it has been so hot here, I think I will wait until the cooler temps set in.

Don't ask me what kind of stone it is. It's from one of the many slabs I got from the Gem Shop, when we made the great haul in the jag. When I saw all the slabs they had for sale I went nuts, the wife had to tell me a few times, to stop that we couldn't get all the rough rocks, vibe, 4 boxes of slabs and her wine in, behind the 2 seats. I didn't listen very well, I just kept grabbing stuff. I just wish it would have shined better than a matte finish. Seems like alot of jaspers I have a hard time getting them to shine real good. Could that stone be a jasper?

I like the matte finish on it but I don't think it's jasper, it's got the opaque quality of agate. Maybe it's a knothole in some pet wood? *smile*

looks like Utah Wonderstone to me, beautiful rock but very soft and hard to shine. great wrap, Cher, you are becoming very accomplished. i'm still practicing with "kiddy wire" and i'm NOT getting a whole lot better at it. (sigh)
great piece there tho!

This is interesting. After KD mentioned the Utah Wonderstone, I did a search for it and found that it's actually a business in southern Utah. The stuff this guy is sitting on in the photo looks just like picture jasper. Utah Wonderstone

Wow Kim I think you nailed it, it does look like that piece. Colors, swirls, even the opaque look to it. Dang you're good, thank you!!
