Moving is a major hassle but we look forward to the change. I'll try to keep the Forum updated. Robin and Vince (hummingbirdstones 1 and 2) have been amazingly helpful in making the transition happen.

Here's my entry of a Teepee Canyon cab. Measurements are 21.1 x 16.3 x 5.3. I had forgotten how much I truly dislike cutting small stones.

Beautiful entries so far!

Dang, some nice ones- not sure I can compete with these this month. I'll have to see how mine look out of the vibe. I don't think my thumb-grinding Teepee compares with Robin's. And Tommy's dino bone, holy cow!

(FYI - I might replace the main photo at some point. I'm still struggling with the camera on this POS S20U phone I bought a few months ago after my trusty S7 got killed off by those who should be ashamed of themselves for not allowing us to block their invasions into our phones ... but I digress.) I sense a little bit of anger in that sarcasm. Beautiful cab. I know you don't usually go small, so that's pretty impressive and gorgeous material.
Thanks! Yes ... I'm still bitter about the phone. I loved my S7 and the camera was super great and easy to use.

Thanks, Tela! It's a cute little stone and I may even make a ring (gasp!).

Great cabs everyone. Y'all sure know how to set the bar at level 11! gemfeller I wish you all the best with your move. Be safe but most of all have fun! Today I started my contest cab, but on the rough grind things went sour... I'll post it anyway, mainly because I'm curious if anyone knows the material. Ali thought it might be opal but it's one of the hardest stones I've ground in quite some time so I'm thinking agateish. here's the slab dry: preform cut: cab started and the piece that cracked off: New cab is on the dop stick and ready to be cut tomorrow. Fingers crossed lol Thanks for any help on the ID and good luck everyone!

I had an order for a custom Trent pendant last week. I had not been in the shop since the fire on Labor day. I slabbed a bit of rough and got her piece cut and in the mail. Here is the small end I cut off... 24x18x7 mm I had to go with a low dome to retain the sagenite. Hence the towering girdle. Probably won't get far going against this batch but it did feel good to cut something after the myriad disasters that we have endured... Slab, Pre-form, Finished, Side view, Backlit,
Thanks for looking!

Ok folks, here is my real entry. We were originally thinking this was some kind of mexican agate, but upon further investigation we determined it's most likely onyx... Which is cool - I don't believe I've ever cut a cab from onyx. Slab: Preform: Cab: Side view: Size:

Hi guys. I just finished with my photo shoot, so mine is ready to upload. I got this beautiful Landscape Picture Jasper from RWA3006 (Randy) I thought it was so pretty I chose it for this December competition. I actually worked on 4 cabs at the same time, and had a hard time then deciding which one. I hope I chose the correct one. Rough Material Calipered Shots Finished Shot Second Finished Shot (I could not decide) Profile Shot

You can and you will compete! No excuses. Haha, yes ma'am! We'll see, 2 more days in the vibe.... I hope you do. There was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears that went into making your cab! Well, maybe not a ton of sweat due the the temperatures lately. But there was blood! I saw the pics of your fingers...oh wait, no real blood, your fingers were just shorter. And well, only tears I guess if your fingers were hurting bad enough... Oh heck! Just enter it in when it's done vibing!

NDK - We have some old Mexican that looks like your first piece. Thanks Vince. I figured that color had to be pretty easy to identify, don't seem to see it every day.
