Here's some wraps I did this week. I didn't get a lot done this week as I was doing more cabbing this week, getting ready for more wrapping this coming week. Pretty much the standard wrapping (for me) going on with these... Pic 1 - Mariposa Poppy Jasper: I got this material from stephan! I just love this stuff! Pic 2 - Black Skin Agate: This is not from the same stone as the tubular agate I posted this week. This cab is huge! It's 2"x1.5"...but I wanted to capture all of the scene. It looks like a cross on a hillside to me...a good post for Easter. Pics 3-5 - Thundereggs: The first one is another large cab. The second one is one of my favorite Thunderegg cabs I've done due to those tubes! I think they are so stunning! The third one shows so many different water level lines (I think that's right) in it, it's just fun to keep looking at it! Pic 6 - Flor de Durazno Lace Agate: This is the first time I tried this shape. I love it! I also am very pleased with the way the wrap came out on this one. Anyway, thanks for taking a gander and critiques and comments are always welcomed. Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6

Great cabs and wraps as usual jasoninsd . #1 is Mariposa, though. Sorry if I mis-marked it. “Tubular.” LOL. That takes me back to high school. I guess, back in the 80s, it would have been “like, totally tubular agate.” (Like, gag me with a spoon )

That’s it. No more poppy jaspers from places starting with M. Ok. A clarification: newly discovered poppy jaspers must claim a trade name where the locality does not start with M.

Excellent work on the cabs and the wraps! I really like the water line cab and the Lace. Thank you so much Robin! I was really stoked about that Lace...I was nervous about the new shape, both for cabbing it and wrapping it...but I'm pleased with how both turned out.

OK, now that we’ve got that straightened out... I am really enjoying the basket-weave bails. Also that last one is out of the park. The shape really captures the features of the stone. Gotta love fortifications WITH pockets. Awesome... and the wrap is elegant and undistracting

Gotta love fortifications WITH pockets. Awesome... and the wrap is elegant and undistracting Thank you so much! I'm really on a kick with the weaved bails! LOL - I started getting a lot more comfortable with the technique and I think it adds a "splash" of elegance to the wrap. I want to do another full weave wrap, but need to find the right cab for it... I have to say, the wrap on the Lace is one of my favorite ones I've done. I really tried hard to keep the wrap off the focal points in the stone, yet follow the curves as best I could. I just cut a really cool Thunderegg preform today with that shape and am excited to work that one as well. It'll probably have a similar wrap as this one.

Not much to say besides excellent cabs and wraps...I'm picking the lace as my favorite of this bunch! 🙂

Another great batch, Jason! Everything looks so well done and that lace is perfect. I do like the tubular wrap #4.

Very nice work! Love the cab with the tubes but the first wrap is my favorite. I am curious...do you start wrapping with a plan or do you just wing it as you go?

OK, now that we’ve got that straightened out... I hate to mess you all up again but I think that's actually called Hornitos poppy jasper ain't it? Unless there's a strain from Mariposa that I've not heard of which is entirely possible.

Unless there's a strain from Mariposa that I've not heard of which is entirely possible. Hornitos is in Mariposa County, so both names apply. I’m told by the folks from whom I received it, and also a former miner of the stuff that Hunters Valley PJ is another aka
