Beautiful cabs, sir! Some fantastic patterns, but I'll have to pick the last one as my favorite. Nice work! Thank you my friend! I honestly don't believe I'll ever tire of cabbing these Teepees! I doubt that you will either... They can be frustrating to work at times, but when they turn out like these it's well worth it!

Here's some cabs I finished up the other day. The quartz areas are extremely fractured...and where I've been hounding the material, the quartz areas always seem to be highly fractured. Since the matrix is also fracture prone, I have to believe it has to do with the enormous pressure these nodules have been under for so many eons. (Of course I could be wrong...but it makes sense in MY head! LOL) Picture three has the "tube fortification" right in the middle. There's some closeup pics of that spot earlier in the thread. The last picture (pic 6) is the backside of picture five. I wished that could have been the front, but this was an endcut, and the surface wasn't smooth. I was hoping more pattern would emerge, so I kept taking the dome down as low as I could. This was the best I could get for pattern coming through. All amazing, and nothing wrong with the front of the last one. Just unsee the back, and you’ll be fine. Been there cabbing heels of t-eggs, where the cut face is sowing gorgeous patterns, as I try to will away the matrix on the domed side.

Those are great. My favs are #3 and the last one. jasoninsd You have a natural eye for both finding nice Tee Pees and bringing them to their full potential. Lighten up on yourself already!

Those are some tasty looking cabs. Great job showing off those patterns. Thank you very much! And to think, these weren't among the "A-list" preforms! LOL Here's some cabs I finished up the other day. The quartz areas are extremely fractured...and where I've been hounding the material, the quartz areas always seem to be highly fractured. Since the matrix is also fracture prone, I have to believe it has to do with the enormous pressure these nodules have been under for so many eons. Been there cabbing heels of t-eggs, where the cut face is sowing gorgeous patterns, as I try to will away the matrix on the domed side. Thanks Stephan! It's just a matter of thinking what "could have been" on that last one...however it is what it is...so it must have just been meant to be. That's funny...that's exactly what I was trying to do grinding that dome down further and further...I was thinking "Maybe another tenth of a millimeter will bring out MORE pattern!" LOL Those are great. My favs are #3 and the last one. jasoninsd You have a natural eye for both finding nice Tee Pees and bringing them to their full potential. Lighten up on yourself already! Thanks Beth! That third one really is something pretty cool with that "tube fortification"! I've got another couple pieces with that formation. One slabette that I can't bring myself to do anything with just yet. I'm trying to lighten up on myself...but you know me...I'm my own biggest critic! LOL Those sure are purdy little stones! Thanks Bill! Like I told MikeT, I really don't see myself EVER getting tired of this material!

Lovely lovelies! Thanks Robin! I was surprised at that fracture in that first one. It wasn't showing any fracture (that I could see) until I got done with the initial grind on it. Thankfully it didn't explode on the flat lap! I just finished a Cold Mountain Thunderegg yesterday...went to polish the back on the 220 disk, and the cab just exploded as soon as I started up the cabber! I was so mad...it made it all the way through everything, but couldn't withstand laying flat on the dang disk...of ALL things! LOL

Sorry about the thunder egg cab.
Sometimes when you hit a fracture just right, that's what it does. Still sucks, though.

This was me doing the T-egg cab: This is what it felt like as I was finishing! Which is better than this!

Nice cabs jasoninsd That dude that biffed it on the hurdles was me once upon a time Thanks 'Dule! I'm WAY too short to run hurdles...or maybe it's that I'm just completely uncoordinated!

Beautiful cabs, Jason! Love those Teepees. Thank you my friend! I'm working on one right now that has some really cool (weird) things going on with the fortifications. When I get it done, I'll post some close-up shots of it...
