Here's a couple cabs from today. The first one is one of my favorite Teepee Canyon Agates I've done to date. Nice one! Love the semi transparent portion. Thanks Perk! Here's a backlit shot...

Thanks Perk! Here's a backlit shot... Woah! That is definitely not semi transparent just transparent. Did you find that? I did. All the Teepee Canyon Agates I've posted so far have been self-collected.

The way you managed to center the fortification in the middle of the second one is outstanding. You got a great polish on both of them, too!

Here's a couple cabs from today. The first one is one of my favorite Teepee Canyon Agates I've done to date. love th teepees. Need to get back up there. Yes you do! It'd be good to see you again. We're getting snow today, so you might not want to think about anytime in the next couple days! LOL Good looking Teepee! I'm amazed at how "fragile" the quartz areas are in this material. I get it, that it's probably the "weakest" area out of the entire nodule, but it always seems to be fracture-filled. this is the agate we find on our prairies. OMG! You find them polished like this! That really is a gorgeous agate! Nice one! Love the semi transparent portion. Both of those are beautiful. The way you managed to center the fortification in the middle of the second one is outstanding. You got a great polish on both of them, too! Thank you Robin! I dumped all the preforms out on the TV tray the other night and asked my wife if she wanted to pick one out for me to cab...the second one is the one she picked! I did. All the Teepee Canyon Agates I've posted so far have been self-collected. wow! That's really impressive. I still haven't cabbed any self collected material. I need to slab my common opal. I tell ya Perk...there's really something special about cabbing self-collected material. There's a lot of material I like cabbing, but after I cab (and subsequently wire-wrap) any of my Teepee Canyon Agates, I enjoy being able to say I did the entire thing from "start to finish"! I'll be watching for your slabbed opal!

Ok jasoninsd. I'm gonna need to get it cutting. I don't have enough material because I finally got a machine and need to cut all my slabs up at my club. Then again, If I had all the slabs in the world it wouldn't be enough. I bet I finish all my purchased ones off at home in like a day! 😂 My rock club is working on it now. I need some wood glue. I've got it in a vise outside. I'll get a pic and tag you real quick. Totally hijacked this thread sorry about that!

Here you are jasoninsd! flic.kr/p/2mAbYPz Bad picture. Sorry. It has a bunch of cool colors in real life. The powder looking stuff is diatomaceous earth that SOMEBODY (definitely not me 😂) didn't clean off good enough. It's actually pretty caked on. Does scratch off with a screwdriver though.

(And there is no such thing as "hijacking" any of MY threads...a lot of times there are "detours"...and most of the time the detours are caused by me! I enjoy them! LOL)

I'm hoping it might be slightly transparent when slabbed. I'm expecting some pretty beautiful colors. Either that or it will explode in the saw. It's one of the more solid chunks I found at the site.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
