1. Amethyst from Rwanda. Not exactly gem grade, but fairly solid, and much better color and more sparkle than lower grade Mexican and Brazilian amethyst I bought when I first started tumbling. 2A. Pet wood limb cast with brecciated agate. One of the first rocks I ever got. I hand polished it with 3M diamond hand laps before I owned any lapidary equipment. I recently ran it through the Lot-O tumbler, which needless to say, lays down a better shine than a hand lap. 2B. 3. Condor agate 4A. Bahia agate. 4B. 5A. West Texas opalized agate. I've seen solid red lines like this in other agates. I don't know if they have a name or what causes them. 5B. The other side, showing that the red line goes all the way through. 6. Moroccan berber agate 7. Brazilian agate with light purple amethyst center. 8A. Lake Superior lightning stone, I think? 8B. 9. Marfa plume agate. Frustrating to tumble, but worth it when they turn out nice. 10. Botswana agate with melting bands. 11A. Lake Superior agate. This was part of a much larger rock that broke apart during tumbling. Large enough that the broke pieces made nice size tumbles. The original piece was about a 3"x2" partial nodule of what must have been a 6"x6" nodule originally, before nature broke it up. 11B. The other side. 12. A preview of what's to come in a future thread.

Shiny indeed. Yes, #8 is a Septarian or Lightning Stone.

Okay, here's another case where I typed out a reply...and forgot to hit the "post" button before closing the tab...once again...sheesh! LOL I cut a piece of George West Petrified Wood from Texas that bears a striking resemblance to #2... Love the "melting bands" in the Botswana! The "preview" pic looks like it's going to lead to a very drool-worthy thread!

I got that limb cast in a large lot of random pet wood that I bought for something like $1 a pound. For the most part, I overpaid. But I would definitely like some more of that stuff if I ever come across it.

Your Texas agate reminds me of Brad, Josh Brolin’s character from Goonies!

Your Texas agate reminds me of Brad, Josh Brolin’s character from Goonies! It took me a minute. I've seen the movie once or twice, but I can't say I'm a Goonies aficionado. I searched google images. And it still took me a minute. The headband! Wow, good eye on that one. And I thought I saw strange things in rocks.
