Got some cabbing in today. Dusted off my light tent. Only 7 today. A nice silver lace onyx broke getting it off the dop. I'm disappointed in a coupla of these. Blue Mountain Jasper. This is big with a stellar polish. Love those porcelain jaspers. Pardon the dust.
This didn't photograph well. It's Spodumene In Matrix From Africa (Kunzite) but has some flash like feldspar. Really nice in person. I love the black contrast.
A VERY chatoyant seraphinite.
I didn't even notice that the bottom was off until I took the picture. Guess I know what I'm cabbing next. Kambaby OJ.
Sonora sunrise.
Gaspeite from stardiamond. It was already shaped, I just finished it.
OK, this one is so nice in person. I took a light tent pic and a table pic. Neither really represent it well. This is a Royal Aztec Lace. I wanted to keep as much size as possible and save the druzy bottom. I need to throw it in the ultrasonic to clean it up. The color is amazing- somewhere between the 2 images.
That's it for today.
The following images are better pics from the other day. The calico lace really deserved a glamor shot.

Beautiful pieces Tela! I love that Blue Mountain...just gorgeous! That Kambaby Ocean Jasper looks exactly like the material I worked last week! You made a great choice on how you worked that Royal Aztec Lace! The Calico Lace is the BOMB out of this group for me!

Another day of cabbing! Is it safe to say you are officially back in the saddle?
The blue mountain is the star of this batch, although the calico lace from the other day is a close second.
I like what you did with the Aztec lace. I am often at a loss when trying to cab agates with unstable quartz in the center. Rather than fighting or avoiding the quartz, you made it the centerpiece.

I'm sure the chatoyant ones are nice in person, although difficult to appreciate fully in a still photo. I liked seeing what you did with the Aztec lace. I am often at a loss when trying to cab agates with unstable quartz in the center. Rather than fighting or avoiding the quartz, you made it the centerpiece. I'm halfway back... for awhile. Once the cold weather really kicks in, I don't know how much cabbing I'll be doing. Now I could kick myself for not doing any sooner.
Here is the slab that I cut the Aztec lace from. I wanted to use all of it.
Oops... can't post a photo in reply. The next post then.

I can’t wait to see the next batch! The Aztec lace cab and original slab are gorgeous! I love you framed that one.

First class cabs!
My favorite is your Aztec Lace "fan" cut. It's outstanding and offers so much potential for pendant designs — please post it when it's a finished piece!

Regarding cold weather -- is the problem cold hands, or rocks coming off the dop?

Regarding cold weather -- is the problem cold hand, or rocks coming off the dop? Both. I can use a metal dop I have with glue, but the water still gets my hands too cold. They aren't getting any less stiff.

They aren't getting any less stiff. I wonder if you could put a USB powered heating pad under the water trays to keep the water warm? There would be no risk of electrocution with a USB powered model. I've got some little USB heating pads that are small (4"x4" or so) and paper thin, sold for DIY projects. You might be able to glue it to the bottom of the tray with the power cord poking out the back. Maybe I will try this, since I am already getting cold fingers when cabbing, and it's still in the high 60s in my barn.
