Yesterday, I started cabbing then my daughter came over "for a coupla hours". Then she says, "Oh, I forgot to tell you, I invited your sister over." WTH?? Well, it turned out that my sister needed some help, so that's ok, but I was getting into my groove when they showed up. I think I made up for it today. I tweaked a couple cabs from the other day and tried to do a nice variety. This might be my favorite. Some kind of flame agate. Much nicer in person. Took a gorgeous liquid polish- high dome.
The back of it is green moss. Can any of you ID it? This is the one that got away. It broke when I was putting the bevel on the back- the last thing I do. Damn. Burro creek agate Indian orbicular "jasper". Really pretty, but too soft to be jasper or rhyolite. Arizona rainbow wood. I swear you can't see that fracture in person. I didn't know it was there until I took the picture. Oh well. Such is Rainbow wood. Guadalupe Poppy jasper A picture jasper that took a glassy polish. Anyone know what it could be? Snowflake Mohawkite. Stunning material! Big cab. Native silver in cobaltite. Very high silver content. I did this last. It's the filthiest blackest thing to cab- other than maybe psilomelane. Green imperial jasper. It started out much larger, but broke a few times. I like the stuff so I finished it. GYP with a nice marcasite plume An unknown agate. Yes, the colors are that phenomenal. Absolutely gorgeous Amazonite. Schiller across the whole stone. Very bright color, too. Probably from Brazil. Prudent man agate Nice OJ with some sugar. A few more images
My attempt at capturing the schiller. Quick fixes

That is a gloriously colorful batch of cabs. I love the variety. The OJ is quite lovely, but I think the silver takes the cake. High silver content indeed! It looks like you cabbed a silver ingot!

That first one reminds me of the horse head nebula, maybe not in shape so much but just the depth. Is the white reflection or part of it?
All I can see in the picture jasper is a line of soldiers being chased by a dust storm. Awesome...
The snowflake looks like the inverse of a stones I occasionally find, nowhere near that quality
The unknown is rock candy
And that Prudent man.....
Not noting the others...very nice again, to say the least

ah Tela let not talk about broken hearts today strangest thing happened at that Stone Connection Showroom its long story but I was showing my everyday wear Sacred Heart Pendant and it broke right there- in half- right on the epoxy seam first time that happened well it 7 years old and wore everyday so I guess the rock'n heart design has the 7 year itch shelf life syndrome ...

Wow. Bad timing! But, at least you can fix it again.

Wow! Those are stunning! I love silver like that so much! I can't wait to get my cabber back to do something like this ( not quite as amazing material or polish but... 😂)

Beauties! Adore the Mohawkite and silver in cobaltite. I'm a sucker for metallics every time.

Another spectacular batch Tela! For me, that Snowflake Mohawkite takes the freaking cake! I love everything about that cab - the material is stunning! I just did a couple Silver Ore cabs. I didn't post pictures as I couldn't get a good picture...and I've got one that has an unreal amount of silver content - kind of like yours.

Thanks for the wonderful show of such beautiful cabs! My favorite was the next one as I scrolled through the pack.
I noticed that you shoot with 3 lights as a result of your reply to Lumberlegs about your first cab. That made me examine it more closely. The shadow of the prism housing on your SLR (plus the pattern that's revealed by it) created sort of a biblical image there.
Also wondering if you take any extra safety precaution cutting cobaltite, or do you think the high silver content minimized any risk?

Buy what you love or you'll get tired of cabbing. I have been collecting slabs for a very long time. I'm sure you could polish some metallics to look like chrome- they are super easy to polish.

I have a light tent with 2 bulbs on either side. For cabs, I put one on the top. Yeah, the reflection is my camera and tripod.
If I were to do more than one of those, I would wear protection. I did a whole bunch one day for an order and wore the full mask respirator. This one was kinda small and didn't require a lot of grinding. I always use both geysers under my wheel and I sat back from it more than I usually would. I think for one small one, I was OK. But, better to at least wear a covid mask.

It would be cooler to do that at some point.
