Here's the cabs I finished up last night... Pics 1-4: Unakite from stewdogg . Thanks Jesse! I love the color combination in this material. It does seem prone to having fractures, pits, and undercutting...but I still love it! Pics 5-6: Quartz in Matrix from paulshiroma . Thanks Paul! This material is one of the softest materials I've worked. It too has a tendency to undercut...but I love the black and white colors. Pics 7-9: West Texas Plume Agate. In that second cab, that is a "bridge" over the druzy pocket. When I was grinding, I thought it was two different pockets at first. Then I could see it was only one. I kept my fingers crossed that bridge would hold...and obviously it did. Pics 10-17: Brazilian Piranha Agate from @jadedvision . Thanks JV! I was really lucky enough to get some if this material to work. There are some stunning patterns in some of this material. The biggest surprise was the plume agate (the 4th cab). I had to take some close-ups to show how busy this piece really is. Thanks for taking a gander...next batch had 15 Mexican Lace Agates ready and waiting! LOL Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6 Pic 7 Pic 8 Pic 9 Pic 10 Pic 11 Pic 12 Pic 13 Pic 14 Pic 15 Pic 16 Pic 17

Nice! I really like the shape on that second Brazilian cab! That plume is really busy, the orange color is wild. Thanks JV! I just tried to get a better picture of that plume agate. That thing is a bear to get a good picture! realrockhound - tagging you for the plume agate.

Another great batch of cabs, my friend! I like the one with the bridged druzy best, I think...

Phenomenal work. Great material Thanks Karl! I was VERY lucky to get ahold of this when I did. Another great batch of cabs, my friend! I like the one with the bridged druzy best, I think... Thanks Mike! If it weren't for that last Brazilian, I'd say the bridged druzy was my favorite...but it's a tie between those two. I was puckering the entire time I was working that one, just hoping the bridge would hold. Thanks JV! I just tried to get a better picture of that plume agate. That thing is a bear to get a good picture! realrockhound - tagging you for the plume agate. I'm drooling. What is that material? As far as I know, it is a Brazilian Piranha Agate...that just happened to be a plume. I've seen some other BPA's with plumes, but this is the first one I've seen that was completely plume filled... I love those closeup shots of the plumes. It is like looking into an alien world. Thanks Brian! I get absolutely giddy looking at some of these rocks through the loupe. Teepee Canyon and anything with fortifications is one of my faves to look at, but you can get lost for quite awhile looking at some of these plume agates.

Nice group of cabs! So shiny... I think I like the plume best, but several others are close like 6, 7 and 12.

You’ve inspired me locate and purchase some after looking it up. Yeah...but when you're finding the materials that you are, I can see why you're rarely needing to buy anything! LOL Wow!!!! Those are great! I think pic number 10 is my favorite. Great job! Those sure are shiny. Thanks Perk! That number 10 was a bear. I took it all the way to 14,000 and saw scratches, so I had to take it back down to 500 and start over...but it was worth it.

Love that plume and that may be my favorite, but I really like the druzy bridge, too. Also #6 and #12 are floating my boat.
May I make one suggestion? Put a small bevel around the bottom edges of your cabs right after you finish the rough grind. It will keep the bottom edges from chipping and make it look neater. I'm looking at the druzy bridge in particular. I can't tell on the other cabs because they're all face on photos.

Great work, as usual. Love the druzy. That is some very different-looking unakite. Way cool.

Thanks Robin! You can ALWAYS make a suggestion! There actually is a bevel around each and every one of my cabs. I use my 180 hard to do it, so I do it right after that step. The way my slant cabber is setup with a splash guard, I have to take the splash guard off in order to put the bevel on the bottom (I can't get the angle with the guard on). Both of those West Texas Plume Agates have "chips" around the bottom edge...deeper than beveling will get rid of them. The positive thing about wrapping my own cabs, is I can try to "cover up" things like that...when they're totally unavoidable. Plumes in pirahna, now that's pretty spectacular. Right!?! Thanks so much! Great work, as usual. Love the druzy. That is some very different-looking unakite. Way cool. Thanks my friend! Well...that one came from Jesse...who self-collected it in Wisconsin. He told me what it was months ago...and I couldn't remember what he said. So, I Googled "pink and green rock in Wisconsin" and Unakite looked like it was spot on to me...and it kinda sounded right. However, both myself and my investigative work through Google could easily be flawed. LOL - Do you think it's something else...and if so, what? (I could just text Jesse! LOL)

jasoninsd -- I wasn't disputing the unakite ID. In fact, it looks very possible. Just saying it's not the same-ole, same-ole.
