I have made myself work through the seemingly endless amount of preforms before I cut into anything else. I'm dying to cut into some new material, but not until I clear some of these out. I'm putting a hurting on my stack and I don't have too many left. Some, I think I will change my mind on. I'm getting down to the ones that really don't inspire me much.
My Nikon lens quit working. WTH? I took it off and put it back on and it's working again. Scared the crap outta me. I don't want to buy a new lens now.
Today, I just grabbed the next one... This is probably my fav for the day. Full of hematite and beautiful. I got several pix to show off the metal.
Light tent
a few on my bench under an incandescent bulb
Prudent Man- not so great, but I love that it's scenic. It reminds me the Rebecca at the well cameos. You can't see the scene too well with the reflections.
Pink limbcast (chalcedony) Texas Springs, NV. I had to change course on the shape and do what you see. There was a bunch of crud on a side on the back, which you could see through the stone. This is big and uber hard. The grind took forever. Copper complex. Don't know what it is, but I sure like it. This was a wedged chunk. close up on my bench. I hope I have more of this.
This was another funky shape of chunk. The cab ended up big, but thin. It would have been bigger but pieces kept coming off the girdle. A small piece of something or other. I like it. Crappy pic of Burro Creek tube agate with druzy. I really like this stuff. Australian Prase. Not sure what it really is, but it's beautiful. Hard to picture it. The color is amazing and the veil of stringers is almost 3D. The color is more like the one above. This is on my bench.
I almost threw this out. This Olympic Poppy fell apart as I cabbed it. It started out a big oval. Now it's a small something. But, since I have a soft spot for the orbs, I finished it. This looks much nicer in person. For some reason the shattuckite in the middle isn't really showing. I say shattuckite because that's what was written on the slab. Some chrysocolla in there, too. The eye being off center bugs me. Owyhee jasper. Not the best, but it was what I grabbed next
And lastly, a rhodonite swoop. The black is real sugary and didn't polish real great. Well, it polished but it looks rough. Oh well, I'll take rhodonite any way I can get it.
Thanks for looking! Tomorrow should be close to 80! Maybe I can work through the last of my dopped preforms.

Wowza!
Great cabs, Tela! I have lots of favorites, but the first one with the hematite is drop dead gorgeous!

Thanks! The sad thing is I have no idea where I got it or if I have any more. I hope I do.

OMG Tela! I have NO clue how these have just been sitting around not getting worked...I don't think I would have slept until I had all these cabbed! LOL (Just teasing!) All of these pieces are amazing...but these two are off-the-charts...which might not even be words "big" enough to describe just how spectacular these two pieces are! It looks like an array of lightning bolts in that second cab...

When I get down to my last of something, I'm not in a hurry to use it.
As for the chrysocolla... I had no idea that it would look like that when I started. It unveiled itself to me. I might have more but a lot of these copper complex materials are hard to tell apart and hard to tell what they'll look like till they're done. I generally don't have great luck with chrysocolla but this was hard. I have some that I need to stabilize before I can use it. Those really are on the back burner.

Don't know how I missed this post before. Glad it got bumped back up. Those are some seriously beautiful cabs! Love the first one and the Aussie Prase. Really like the Burro Creek tube too. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Now I'm more excited about trying to visit Burro Cr in Jan. Now that you've cleaned up your backlog of preforms you have a back log of wrapping! Time to get busy! Right after you make a few hundred more earrings.

Yeah, after 100 earrings, I kinda miss wrapping! LOL!

Tommy found that tube agate. I'm the happy recipient of some. He says it was a fluke and we've never seen anymore. I think what I might have said was I stole some out of the back of AzRockGeek's truck I tried to pin him down on exactly where he found it but got nowhere He probably still has a bunch of it unless he has sphered or sold it. I still have a couple of smaller pieces somewhere if I can find them.
